Lloyd said: I played with my brother David and the beauty of brothers playing together is that sometimes when you get a world-class singles player playing doubles, the doubles specialist tends to get a bit intimidated.

With brothers that goes out of the window. Obviously it depends on match.

If Andy has played five hours in singles, it might not be best to put him in the doubles.

I haven't picked the team yet but, looking at it at the moment, on paper the Murrays would be our best team.

That comment came after Jamie's San Jose title and it basically confirms Jamie will almost certainly play Davis Cup Smile

With his (jamie) good run continuing in Memphis it must be rubber stamped now. clap

Is there a limit to the size of squad or could Aucks and Jamie not both be in attendance or involved in someway even if both do not get to play.

This is from the Davis Cup site

10 Team Nominations

(a) Each competing Nation shall at least ten days before the date fixed for the commencement of the Tie, nominate to the Davis Cup Committee and to the opposing Nation:

- a team of a minimum of three and a maximum of four, which shall include the nomination of playing Captain, or
- a team of a minimum of four and a maximum of five, which shall include the nomination of a non-playing Captain without specifying which players shall play in singles and doubles.
- Two nominations may be changed up to one hour before the Draw.
- Any of the above nominations may be changed up to 10 days prior to the tie.

So you could have a team made up of a non-playing captain and four nominated players,

So you could run with

Non-playing Captain

Greg Rusedski

Nominated Players

Andy Murray
Tim Henman
Jamie Murray
James Auckland

In that way both could be taken.

But they never do that as you want at least 3 singles players there in case one goes ill. Although theoretically picking 2 doubles players is possible, it's a risky strategy, and in this case, since Jamie and Auckland don't play together on a regular basis, a bit pointless. I'd be very surprised if it happens.

Obviously, if you're the US coach, and you can take the "risk" of playing the Bryan bros, it makes sense to risk it and pick them. After all it's unlikely the single players get sick.

If it between Aucks and Jamie there is only one serious choice and that's Jamie.

He has earned it with his start to the season.

Depends coz if Henman gets injured again we would have no cover at the moment i think its best if we picked the same tean as what Mark said but drop Aucks for someone like Baker who is bang on form and has a very good doubles rep and good form in singles, semi's and finals apperances on the hardest challenger circuit, Or boggo who just thrashed some guy 6-0, 6-1.

Isn't Boggo refusing to play Davis Cup? He did that at least once. Well - declined politely probably is a better choice of words.

No, Boggo wants to still play Davis Cup but Lloyd kicked him out of the team after one of his lazy single performances.
