yes I did read that it was to help finance the whole thing but is that really necessary given Andy's wealth? And could they not at least have included some genuinely affordable housing so it wasn't just an exclusive enclave?

The executive housing/affordable housing thing was only part of the problem. The main issue appeared to be that there was a material breach of the Councils Local Plan in placing a substantial exclusive housing development on Green Belt land, and an issue of sustainable transport links to the new facility.  Andy is indeed wealthy, but sports facilities are notoriously unprofitable at "affordable" prices, so he and his accountants will be wary of how much of his private wealth he can commit

I'm against ANYTHING on green belt land, but from what I've been hearing, Elena Baltacha's Academy of Tennis in Ipswich is doing quite well, although a fair amount of its money is coming from donations to her Foundation.  I know this is a different scenario but at least EBAT proves that it can work.

"Judy Murray rallies support for Glasgow's vital community projects"

'JUDY visited a community centre in Easterhouse and helped pack food parcels for pensioners, just one of the many activities organised Family Action in Rogerfield and Easterhouse.

It will be hard to find a replacement for Judy as Fed Cup captain. Who is even in the running?

She says she 'wants more time with the family'......I really hope the extra time on her hands does not mean that she will be more involved in Andy, tennis-wise.
And she seems set on her granny role. I feel for Kim.

Sorry, I'm not a big fan [not that I know her personally]  - but to me she seems far too involved in her sons' lives already.

Anne Keothavong seems to be the person who could be in the running for the job.

Judy did say earlier in the year she wanted to spend more time with her parents, said that she's barely seen her nieces last yea, so it isn't just about Andy all the time, even if there are those who would have us think she follows Andy around all over the place and dictates what he should do in his career and life.

There seems to be some skewed image of Judy as some sort of massively interfering and over-bearing person in Andy's life, but I've never quite understood how that has come about.

I think it has come about due to times when she could have been more circumspect with her comments to the press - which haven't done herself or indeed Andy any favours.
Maybe a bit more of a back seat in the public eye will be good. Time will tell.

Judy is  a lovely person I meet her in Rome.
She is naturally very supportive of her 2 boys who have done wonderfully well.  She should certainly support them so would I if they where no 2 in the world.  I hope she will enjoy her time with her family and her new granddaughter she deserves it having worked so hard for tennis.
