Lendl needs the money. Have you seen the price of dog food? Mr Lendl has dogs + 3 kids... costs a bit that lot!

I think Lendl has five daughters lashurst - aged between 14 and 21.  That is certainly costly - and think of all the weddings!!!

Awwww thats so sweet.I was thinking about what people are saying that it Will be very expensive to hire Lendl for Andy, but think how much more he will earn in sponsership alone when he wins a slam, (very soon ) especially if it was wimbeldon, very good investment if you ask me.  cmon yeah
Well I hope the fact that Andy is prepared to pay this kind of money to fulfil his ambitions will shut up those people who after AO last year were saying he'll be content with the money he's earned and not push himself to reach the pinnacle and generally discussed him as if he simply plays for the money - when I get the impression he's not that interested in money really.

Agree Ruthie, i dont think he is that interested in money other wise he wouldnt of said he would give it all back to win a slam, its the papers and journos that go on about  it all the time. so hope he wins very soon and just shut them all up, all i am saying is if Lendl helps then its money well spent.

So the draw is out -

Andy is pitted against Ryan Harrison, the 19-year-old American from Louisiana and world No 84 (who he's never played) in the opening round, after which there is a steady list of French players who may be blocking his route, from Édouard Roger Vasselin, through Gaël Monfils and a prospective QF against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - BUT Djokovic could be lurking in the SF.

Harrison will be tricky.  Not too worried about the French contingent ... but Djoko in the SF could be extremely tough if he maintains the same form as last year.  Lendl will definitely have his work cut out here should Andy get that far.  I think after that either Federer or Nadal could be waiting in the final, although there are questions marks over both these players' chances of getting there.  Fed has a back problem and Nadal has a shoulder one.

Delpo and Berdych both have an outside chance of coming through from that side of the draw I would think.

Andy has a good record against French opponents.  Ryan Harrison could be a slippery character but Andy just needs to breath deeply and not let 1st match nerves get to him.

Come off it, if we're worrying about Ryan Harrison we should all be contributing to Andy's air ticket home right now!

I'm taking nothing for granted and one match at a time.  We all know that on paper Andy should have this one in the bag but when you do say things like that, it comes back and bites you in the arse!  So for Karma's sake, I'm being cautious Very Happy cmonandy

Yes we should never take anything for granted especially against a rising player Andy hasn't played before.  Aaagh that Andy gets Nole in SFs.  How many times has he hit Rafa recently and just this time when I'm sure he could beat Rafa he has to get Nole.   That said, perhaps he has a better chance of beating him in SFs - and he certainly has the tennis to do so - than in Finals and if he did beat him then surely his chances of winning whole thing increase massively.
On the theme of this thread here's a really positive piece in today's Indy - Cahill says Andy-Mr L is a match is made in heaven and advised Andy's team to approach Mr L.  And he'll still be available on the end of a phone should Andy want to talk tennis to him.
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/tennis/cahill-lendl-and-murray-are-match-made-in-heaven-6288938.html

Oh and caught a clip of Mr L on radio - saying British media unfair in criticising Andy for not winning a GS.  I guess full interview might be on bbc tennis site so will check it out later.  One interesting aspect of Andy's new coaching situation is that he won't be able to forbid his coach from talking to media like he did with Miles.  And of course Mr L is someone the media will want to talk to. But I don't think Andy has anything to worry about as he strikes me as a wily old fox.

Ruthie, was it you or another, who said Ivan is on record saying what passes between Andy and him is "strictly confidential"? Don't think he's the type to blab, do you? Smile

Andy Murray - US Open and Wimbledon champion! :)

I quite like Andy's draw apart from being seeded to meet Tsonga in the quarters. Tsonga's playing really good tennis right now but Andy usually comes through matches against him even though they're often quite close ones.

I'm pleased he's not drawn Rafa this time - Rafa/Andy semis were getting boring and you can never count Rafa out to round into form just when everyone thinks he's struggling. Novak will obviously be very tough too though.

Yes it was me with reference to when he was questioned about Andy's on court demeanour.  No I have no worries about him blabbing.  Instead I think it might take a bit of the media pressure off Andy if Mr L can carry some of the burden of that.
