I agree, Novak is burning brightly at both ends with the whole grinding style of play. And just like Nadal he shall pay a physical price.
He's going to be a major opponent for Andy for a long time, but I believe that momentum shall shift to Andy at some point later this year. Its up to Andy to have the balls to go for it & stamp his authority. And of-course get over his Nadal problem. That & taking out Federer in a slam are what is required at this stage for him to be really in the mix at slam time.

The one player who could possibly challenge Andy in the future is Del Potro, provided he can stay healthy and get back the form that won him the 2009 USO.

I can't see Delpo bothering the top players consistently unless he improves his movement and I'm not sure he can do that.  The men's tour has moved on since 2009.

I still have a high regard for Del Potro, but was a little surprised how easily he was defeated in strait sets by Federer both at the AO and again last week in Rotterdam.

Del Potro is having problems making up for lost time. I'm not sure how much of a threat he is to Andy even at his best he always fell short.
Andy had his number and could move him around. Still he is starting to look more threatening. But he is still young & presumably yet to peak. So in the future it could be different.
He will need a bit more time before he can challenge the top 4. But he's already a problem for the rest.

It will be interesting to see how Del Potro get on tonight against Davydenko who is still a tough guy to beat.

Delpotro's best chance is on clay, the only surface he's beaten Andy on. On other surfaces his movement is not good so if opponents take the ball early and stop giving him time to set up that massive forehand, he can be beaten.
Yes, do realise he got USOpen but that year Rafa had a stomach muscle injury and I don't know what happened to Fed.
Also that year Delpot was on quite a run, not sure if he can replicate it.
