That must be one of the most ridiculous prices for someone who's never won a major ever.

Yes, on current form it's justified to make him favourite, but at that price??

2/1 is very short odds.

Strider I agree with you Andy Murray is more likely the 3rd favourite still even though he is the form horse.

Andy's 2nd serve did look much better in Doha as did the forehand which are his comparative weaknesses against the best players.

Nope. I thought that yesterday.

They do say revenge is a dish best served cold, but I dont see him reappearing unless Andy's form dips.

Andy hasn't lost a match this year, whilst basically everyone else has including Abu Dhabi. and pggtips, about the forehand thing, i dont know how murrays forehand is any worse than Federers, Nadals or Djokovic's. Federer especially hits a clean forehand once in every ten attempts when going for a winner in his current form.

Murray has the weakest forehand of the 4 IMO.

But I agree with you about Fed, but generally, it is a superb stroke.

I agree with you there, Murrays forehand is increidbly consistent but it isnt really a weapon like Rafa Novak or Fed.

I think the best forhand is Nadal's for accuracy and spin and timing and ... well the lot really

Here's a little thought...

in the last 8 times he has played the top 3 he has won them all
(2 against nole, 2 against rafa and 4 against fed)

the bookies have to make him fav

and I think it that form the only obstacle he has to overcome is 73 years of British blankness on his shoulders in the final

I think he will overcome it this time...he is just too good at the moment

You forgot the Federer US Open final, so that's 8/9.  Still reason enough to be favourite, but lets get accurate here.

I don't like him being tagged as favourite and I'm glad to see Andy play down the tag and making people remember last year:-

In-form Andy Murray has played down his tag as one of the favourites for the forthcoming Australian Open.

The 21-year-old has had a superb start to the year, defending his Qatar Open crown a week after beating Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in Abu Dhabi.

Murray, who lost to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in round one of last year's Australian Open, told BBC's Sportsweek: "I'm feeling confident and I'm playing well.

"But after what happened last year I'm trying to focus on the first round."

And he added on his personal website: "I am one of the top guys but I don't know if I am the favourite.
