With all the speculation, we might as well have a poll on it.

Do you feel Murray misled us because the LTA wanted him too?

Did you find it was suspicious how the vibe from the Murray camp was very positive of his chances?

Did he want to leave it till the last minute to decide because he truly believed he could be better just in time?

Why did he say the doctors said he coudn't reinjure his wrist and then the next day completely U-turn on that comment?

Is fuzzyballs just a Murray hater? lol

Dont be daft fuzz, Wimbledon doesn't rely on British players to market itself.

Hell, in my day, apart from a rare appearance and a few Brit flash in the pan wins, it was about great tennis and great characters.

I dont see Wimby losing any money by Andy pulling out, do you? Very Happy

I shall be supporting Tommy Haas and Andy Roddick, along with Rafa, of course.

Yes, quite a lot in the domestic market. The performance of British players means a lot to the domestic market. In a wider context the LTA are under pressure. They have been spending money left and right, and what have we got to show so far? The most promising British player has been sidelined for months, missed 2 slams, completely missed the clay season, completely missed the grass court season, and still there is a cloud over when he will actually make a return. Hardly a great advert for what has been going on

Fuzzyballs knows how these things work and Murray not playing Wimbledon, on the back of the time out he has had this season, is a total disaster for the LTA. They need a good news story to justify the spending spree they have been on.

Hopefully Roger Draper has had the balls to spend it on the right things. I think his plan is more long term and not just resting on Murray. You make it sound as if it's deliberate, which is, of course, a load of cobblers.

It's the 10 an 11 year olds who need the money and the role model. If the fate of British tennis rests with Andy, I'd emigrate and change to being a US citizen pronto, if I was him.

I'd settle for the depth of France and Spain's tennis players. Apart from clay (and taking out the phenomenom that is Rafa) they haven't had that many GS winners. How long since a Frenchman won the FO?

But there are so many watchable players.

I'd rather watch the tactics of a guy like Fabrice Santoro than Boggers or his ilk, any day.

How many people - outside of the fan community - actually care whether Andy Murray plays or not? The majority of people that go to Wimbledon wouldn't have seen him anyway, and a rather large percentage of Britain thinks he's a cocky little bastard.
Admittedly, what people are interpreting as stringing the public along might have been a genuine tactic employed by the LTA, but I think it has as much to do with keeping the profile of Wimbledon high than manipulating the fans. Given the fact that it falls just after Glastonbury and Royal Ascot, it's profile might have been slightly diminished, had the press not had something to focus on.
