It was something like 33-35 degrees celsius and very humid!

Did Murray perform at normal high levels that day? Or was it simply that he was less worse under the conditions than his opponent?

Played well I thought, it was a bit of an ugly match due to the conditions.

In any case, he'll handle the heat better than most IMO.

It was 'I can't breathe' Djoker he was playing that day. But it was a long, hot match that went to a 3rd set breaker. Very ugly but Andy concentrated well and won through. Particularly big seeing as it was his first MS win.

Andy won in straight sets. It was two tiebreakers.

Won in 2, didn't he? Think

Tight match though and he did well to keep his concentration throughout in such conditions. It was one of the first weeks after that Wimbledon turnaround against Gasquet when he was beginning to really turn on the style.

He did indeed. I'd forgotten. He served for 2nd set but it ended up a TB. Still 2hrs 20 on court in over 100 degrees said Andy. I think he can cope with a bit of SW19 sun! Organisers will be itching to try the roof out and it's not happening!

The conditions will be extremely testing, but Murray copes with heat and humidity better than most. Both were major factors in Cincinnati, but the British No 1 never wilted in a final that lasted two hours and 23 minutes and featured many lengthy rallies.

"I've been playing a lot of matches, but right now I feel fine both physically and mentally," Murray said. "The humidity this week was unbelievable. It was well over 100 degrees out on court yesterday.

"I've played well in these conditions this week, but they're not conditions that you would want to play in all the time. It's tough after matches to make sure you're properly hydrated and eating the right sort of food. You can lose quite a lot of weight playing in those conditions.

yes I consider him the best returner on tour. Still would refer anyone to watch the match against Karlovic at Cincy 08 who doubts it.
