After a rather late Hogmanay, I had to get up early to walk the dog, who doesn't quite understadn the concept of a "lie in."

With everyone else still sound asleep, I treated myself to yet another DVD viewing of the fifth set.  Still gives me goosebumps.

What a way to start the New Year!

You're right about the spectator who shouted "out" at 30-0.  It was a quite bizarre little cameo to bring up Championship points, wasn't it?

I'd forgotten that Andy lined up to serve to the Ad court at 40-15 in the final game, until he realised his mistake.  He looked so cool, but this shows how tense he really was!

I've just seen the Eurosport advert for the AO - it's based on some comic-book style graphics and starts with a drawing of Andy in chains, then snapping them apart Hulk-like, accompanied to the words "76 years of pressure... have finally been lifted...."

I think it's really good!

Yeah, it's my favourite AO ad. The term 'the shackles are broken' proves that Andy did a lot for the game in Britain.

An epic match for sure - Andy's first Major win after all. No matter how you cut it, slice it or dice it, it will always be outstanding for that reason alone. It had all the drama a match could have, a great atmosphere, a very engaged crowd etc. The 2nd set TB couldn't have been more tense; then the usual downfall of Andy in the 3rd and 4th set; but most importantly and astonishingly, Andy's convincing lead followed by a great win in the fifth set when most, I am sure, wrote him off at that point. It couldn't have gotten anymore spicy and juicy than that.

Just watched the fifth set again (I've been meaning to since I read the recent Times interview with Andy),and I'm not ashamed to admit,I cried all over again watching it.I've watched the match a few times now,and it still gives me chills,every single time.In fact,I doubt that I'll ever be able to watch without getting emotional and   !

What a night that was.I'll never,ever forget it-the night we finally saw his (and our!) dream come true.

It was morning in Australia when Andy was playing that final and I was teaching class and checking the live scores on my laptop and phone (I completely ignored the morning meeting we had on before school starts for the day and was glued to my phone instead but tried to hide it so people couldn't see I had it in the meeting!).  Late into the 5th set it all got too much for me and I had to put the radio stream on in my biology class so I could hear what the commentators were saying and not just rely on the scores - the students thought I was nuts - and I probably am!!!

I have also just realised that I will be studying for and sitting some very important honours exams (back to uni this year!) right when Wimbledon will be played and the games will be on in the middle of the night - SUCH bad timing

Dani, I watch the fifth set on a regular basis and I still cheer along with the crowd in NY. I also get rather emotional at all the important points and in particular the disputed Ace in the last game.

I too have watched only the fifth set again, but that wasn't that long after the match, so I think it's time I watched it again! Thanks for the reminder! 

Caz. How have you NOT watched the fifth set regularly? Almost shame on you and all the others!

I've watched the fifth set about ten times.  It still raises a tingle down my spine.  Every point in the last game had something about it!

I still can't watch the first set TB though.  Holy cow that was a tense one!
