Seriously, Murray has to learn to start wanting to win early games to set the status of the players with him the top guy without giving himself a few games to warm up. He was playing so badly in those first five games you had to wonder whether he wanted to win. One day his magnificent fight backs will backfire? What was good was that love game in the middle after he had secured a break which must have totally deflated Pablo. Have no clue as yet what to expect from Sousa. Is he a clay or hard court specialist or neither?
I really don't think it is that. I think we are all underestimating the skill level of playing at the level he does. He has had time out, it is taking time to get everything back together. His fine tuning is still quite off. What ranking did Del Potro drop to when he was out with his last injury?
That first set to me just looked like everything was completely out of kilter, it is taking him longer at the moment to refine every thing. Once he did he was deadly.
I think realistically his "minor back surgery" falls into the same elastic interpretation of the truth that is so beloved of politicians. I am increasingly thinking it was less minor than he is letting on.
