A counter puncher like Andy always fights back.

Whenever I thought it would be plain sailing, Andy made things complicated. Nevertheless, he did what was expected from him. That is what counts. I am happy though that with Simon he is going to play an elegant player next. Gulbis/dimitrov - equally challenging.

I didn't know what to make of it and even the comms were a bit confused.

He's never lost to Simon but I think this could be a trickier match for him than usual right now.

You are ill informed, the counter puncher has lost to the serial pusher on 1 occasion in Rome 2007.

I agree with that especially as if he does he will be above DelPO in the rankings. All I want now if for Ivan to explain to Andy how to beat Berdych whom I see as a threat for the 500's where he could make a lot of points.

I liked the commentator's comment that "he went the scenic route" to his win. I think that meant he could have demolished Sousa if he wanted but chose not to? It did look like that. Well played.

Well played Andy.

The question might be if the matches before offer long rallies. A lot of strong servers. On the other hand, they might all end up in TB, which prolongs the torture to watch, to my mind.

Well I'm hoping Dolgopolov comes up with some good **** to end Karlovic's campaign before a TB is even considered. Ferrer vs Anderson on the other hand is 50/50 as to the length it will go.

What was that didn't watch live?

The point was ad to Andy on Sousa's serve.  Andy hit a shot onto the sideline and Sousa's next shot was clearly out. Next moment Sousa said he heard Andy's ball called "out" and this put him off. The linesman didn't call. After a lot of argy barging the score went back to deuce. Everyone totally baffled, then one of the comms said maybe Andy had shouted out on that point. Think it's called "hindrance?"
