Thank god a costume change. I think it will help him to win.

Although I don't get why tennis players don't try to camouflage themselves with court, it would be an advantage if your opponent can't see you! Very Happy
Or go in the opposite direction and where something really bright. Petr Cech used to do this for Chelsea.

If Andy knocks out Flintoff could be the start of a whole new approach to tennis where he leaps over the net and floors his opponent with a right hook!

Very eager to see Andy on clay. Very excited. Miami was the slowest in all Masters…slower than RG apparently and Andy pulled off a couple of good wins there against Gasquet and Ferrer. Was wondering about IW and was thinking, if that attacking approach against Del Potro was part of the plan to see if it works on clay.

The draw's on Saturday at noon. Hope he gets a good draw, and avoids Delpo and Berdych in the QFs.

Thanks Katie.  BB I'm assuming ITV will be covering RG.  I don't think it was a one-off.  I certainly hope they will be as I thought their coverage was excellent including use of the lovely Santoro as a commentator  wub

Andy will get a great chance if he gets a very good draw no doubt. He will definitely need to save as much energy as possible by not getting into too many rallies. I thought his execution against Gasquet in Miami was very good – not too passive or aggressive and ended the point when he had a chance. There was never too safe an approach or too risky. I really liked it. I am sure Lendl knows however just need to execute it properly at the right time. Also, Andy should be pumped for the clay season.

Berdych will probably be 4th seed, unless Nole decides to ignore his doctor and gamble his ankle.

That's a good point - I think he probably will withdraw, it's not worth the risk for a non-mandatory event. It would also mean Andy being the top seed at a Masters event for the first time. So the QF seeds would then be Delpo, Tsonga, Gasquet and Tipsarevic - he's beaten Tipsarevic and Gasquet on clay before, but hasn't faced Tsonga.

I really think he'll be able to beat Tsonga on clay. Tsonga too has yet to make a final on clay.

Yes I think he would too - he's got the head-to-head advantage anyway which would give him confidence. Though Tsonga did almost beat Novak at the French Open, having multiple match points then - that was a great performance from him.

Here's the stats from the Fedex reliability zone for players' performances on clay. Andy's way down in 17th place (based on clay results in the last 52 weeks) but as he was struggling with injury last clay season, hopefully he can improve on that ranking this year.
