Andy's 2013 clay court season

Quote

Wow so Davydenko was ranked 9 as well, meaning he's 0-10 against top 8 players on clay? I never knew that at all, really not a great statistic. It's a good job the WTFs aren't held on clay then :P

As ever, a thoughtful and interesting post. I await developments over next couple of days with interest
Thanks.

It does sound as if the organisers are, quite understandably, keen that Nole plays, and apparently have said they are prepared to ensure he has the last possible round 2 match to give him extra time if it helps.  In those circumstances, and if there is a risk of a last minute/mid-tournament withdrawal from Nole, they might prefer Rafa in his half.

I am assuming these things aren't random! Very Happy

Thank Smile I'm glad someone had the tenacity to look for that, let's hope he can reverse this trend and soonish rather than later

Does anyone know when Andy's first match is likely to be?

I'd guess Tuesday to leave nole's half playing Wednesday - then everyone plays from Thursday on - but that is just a wild guess based on no factual knowledge whatsoever!

Wow! Thanks SL.

Doesn't inspire much confidence, except that Lendl's been with him for a good while now, and Moya has been working with him. They have lots of clay tricks up their sleeves.

So only 11 matches against top 10 players:- 6 against Djokovic and Nadal - 1 when he was 19.

You could call it twisting the facts, but in terms of his record against players on clay outside of the top four, 1-3 isn't that bad. Which is what is relevant in terms of making the SFs of clay events, which is the first step. We can worry about Djokovic and Nadal then.

Thanks for the figures SL.

 12/04 4:24 p.m. - Djokovic and Murray exhibition Saturday
Novak Djokovic is likely to participate in the Masters 1000 Monte-Carlo.  The world number one, who had an MRI this past week after he sprained his ankle in the Davis Cup, will play an exhibition match against Andy Murray on Saturday.  The meeting will take place on the Place du Casino in Monte Carlo, to promote the appointment of Monaco, which begins Sunday.
