2013 Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray recently underwent minor back surgery. Andy is returning to training in November for his pre-season training block in Miami and just in time for the inaugural Dream Cup tennis tournament challenge in Barbados. The tournament, scheduled for November 28th competition at the Sir Garfield Sober Sports Complex with three other of the World’s top players (Juan Martin Del Potro, Richard Gasquet, and Nicolas Almagro.) The tennis tournament challenge in the warm Caribbean setting of Barbados provides a perfect location for Murray to continue his preparation for the new season.
I know that a lot of tennis fans tend to dismiss exhos as being of little significance, but Andy confirmed his commitment to this tournament on 14 October, just three weeks after his op. Given that he has only just started some hitting on court and left for Miami to continue his rehab with more intensive training, perhaps his participation in this event might seem a little optimistic, especially given his fellow players, but if Andy feels fit enough to take part then I see it as an excellent opportunity to test his back out in a warm, sunny environment, with no pressure on him whatsoever.
The event is being televised by ESPN, so for those of us who can't get it, I'm assuming that a livestream will be available.
