Talking of Lendl - does anyone have any idea if he will be linking up with Andy before Shanghai - maybe in Tokyo?  He just seems to have vanished into thin air since the USO.

I recall reading somewhere a while back that Lendl was hired on the basis of only attending the Slams .... I think they work on remote instructions from Lendl... with Dani V. charged with looking after the practice sessions in Lendl's absence.

aw thanks for that and thats great news got next week off work  next question will it be on normal tv  i doubt ,maybe able to watch online how far ahead orr behind are they over there
Sky will be showing it from early hours of Thursday morning - they usually only show last few days of anything less than a masters tournament.  At least they're showing some of it this year because they didn't last.

Yeah, Linda, you said it.  w00t

I must say, its gonna be difficult to watch any matches from Tokyo, I'm a work and there's an 8 hour difference.
I dont know if Eurosport is showing it or not, otherwise I could record it.

I have no way of recording it, and it's a 13 hour time difference for me. I'm lucky I don't have to go to work, so I guess it's back to the old alarm clock and tiptoeing in the house in darkness for me again.  yawn zz

Bad news.  It seems the "wounded and exhausted" Federer has recharged his batteries, and I double-checked with rogerfederer.com who have Shanghai as his next tournament.  I don't know who writes the articles for Live Tennis Guide but English clearly isn't their first language!

Roger Federer to begin training ahead of Shanghai Masters

17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is going to begin training on hard courts, before heading into the 2012 Shanghai Masters next month at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena in Shanghai.

World No. 1 Roger Federer will return back to the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena in Shanghai, where he has withdraws from the last year’s tournament with injury. Swiss Maestro said he is very excite to be back to Shanghai and hopes to give best performance to lift the title, before heading into the Paris Masters.

Full story - http://www.livetennisguide.com/2012/09/25/roger-federer-to-begin-training-ahead-of-shanghai-masters/

The LTG also had another article in which Federer says he's looking forward to touring South America in December, when he'll play exhibition matches.

If Smugfed is playing Shanghai it shows how really really badly he wants to be No.1 at the end of the year.  I don't think he's planning ahead much for 2013 although the players do now all get more time off in the close season.

I read a piece somewhere a while back-I can't remember where now-that saying Federer couldn't really pull out of Shanghai again this year, because of his ties with Rolex, who are obviously the current sponsors of it.I'm not sure how accurate that is,or how much of an impact the Rolex ties would have on his decision (I'm sure if he was VERY against playing he'd find a way not to),but it might be at least a part of the reason. That, and,of course,he is very much going to put up a fight to hold on to No. 1!

I hope Djokovic ends the year as world number one. I'd love to see the look on SmugFed's face if that happens...

Would a WTF win be enough to see Djokvic end the year with the no1 spot?
