Sad to see a defending champion not being able to defend his trophy really. Hope to see Nadal fit and rearing to go for the USO.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Tactical move by Rafa imo, he dosen't want to make his injury worse by playing Olympics...if it will upset his USO preparation. remeber he already has Olympic gold so it surely can't mean as much to him as it does Fed/nole/Andy. Rafa will be a beast at the USO!
I disagree that this move is tactical. I'm not a Nadal fan, but I just can't believe that he would forego the chance of not only winning another gold for Spain but also the honour of being the flag-bearer for his country's team at the opening ceremony.

Thanks for the timings Elena.
And from me too. Hopefully somebody will be around to record the event.

Breaking News
Nadal has pulled out the Tournament.
From the Bleacher report:-
Federer would have to be considered the favorite, as he looks to make up for a poor 2008 performance in which he was eliminated by James Blake and failed to medal. Djokovic will also be in the running, and Wimbledon runner-up Andy Murray will be another threat to win gold in front of his many supporters.
The vote on there puts Fed on 66%

Urghh - everything I've looked at so far puts Fed as favourite just because he won Wimbledon. What rubbish!
Also who is very keen to make up for his R1 defeat in Beijing??

Rafa is intensely patriotic, can't believe it's a "strategic withdrawal."
Anyone but Fed.

Me too, but massive opportunity to close the points gap on #3.
Yes it's 750 points for a win. I'm well up for Andy winning but, at 750 points, I'm a bit surprised it's worth less than a Masters event. 1500 feels about right

Doesn't Andy have a load of points to defend this Summer/Autumn?

From now until the US Open, he has 1010 points to defend (inc. 1000 from the win in Cincy). Whereas Rafa has 190 points to defend.
So it seems likely that the next opportunity for Andy to move up is at the US Open. Although if Andy gets to the last 2 at the Olympics and Toronto and wins in Cincinatti then it may get close.

Just knowing Andy will fight tooth and nail for this gold is a bit like...ohh dont overdo it or injure yourself Andy we need you fit as a daisy for US!
It is indeed a tactical move by Nadal. He's won Olympics before. He is now preparing himself for the USO where the big show is and he has a lot to prove since he hasn't won anything outside clay for a long time now. And the beating he took at the hand of Rosol at Wimbledon was huge and he needs time to recover from that as well. He is a man of confidence and if he doesn't have it, then he is no good.

Cracking line from Andy.
The British number 1 also said he has been trying to laugh to help him get over the defeat.
"I go to stand up comedy a lot because laughing is the best way to get over things," said Murray.
"I laugh a lot but just not in front of you guys (the media), your questions are just not that funny." He added.

Brilliant - good for Andy on both scores and I have indeed read that laughter is good for you. But no doubt some po-faced git won't get the joke and say he's being rude or disrespectful to the media.
I don't mind smugfed being favourite for olympics as I think that improves Andy's chances of sneaking up and snatching that gold medal from under his arrogant nose.
But bh not sure I'd say ANYONE but smugfed with birdshit no doubt desperate to make good his wimbledon failure. It's a close call.

Thanks Elena. He looks relaxed, animated, and ready to go.
Also liked Jamie's cameo in the background, and Andy's comment: "..like a stag do, only no drinking."
