Hoping mostly that Andy will be happy with his performance here.  That'll be important for him to take forward to the next tournament.

Andy's betting odds shortened from 12- 1, to 9- 1 after his 1st match. They were level were Delpo before it started.

I'm still not raising my expectations on the basis of one match, impressive as his performance was, but I thought Andy looked encouragingly lean and mean, and it was great to read on the BBC website that he said that today he'd felt freer than he had done in the last 18 months, so his recovery and comeback seem to be heading in the right direction.  How he will fare against fellow top players should he get that far, remains to be seen, but, whatever happens, hopefully the AO will be the springboard for a very bright 2014.

Interesting interview with Martina about andy's chances.  She compares his return with Rafa's but says it could be more difficult for Andy because he has more variety in his game and therefore not such a straightforward game plan as Andy.  She thinks it would be difficult for Andy to win but if he got to the SFs then he could do it and if anyone can Andy can she thinks

Hmmmm. Not to be too much of a damper making reaching the SFs a condition suggests she still rates Federer and is hedging her bets!!

Andy coming up with a valid reason on why he didn't play so well? wow it's a good job he's not a fan of himself on this forum, he'd be accused of toeing the sycophantic line and Boogers would not be impressed.
