Andy at the Australian Open

Andy coming up with a valid reason on why he didn't play so well? wow it's a good job he's not a fan of himself on this forum, he'd be accused of toeing the sycophantic line and Boogers would not be impressed.

And he would probably advise Gangsta and Prod to ignore Andy.

Yep, ignore people who disagree with you - that's a good lesson for life.

Aye - God Forbid actually taking another person's viewpoint on board and - wait for it - having the maturity to think about it, and then give a considered opinion!  That would never do... no

Interesting interview with Martina about andy's chances.  She compares his return with Rafa's but says it could be more difficult for Andy because he has more variety in his game and therefore not such a straightforward game plan as Nadal.  She thinks it would be difficult for Andy to win but if he got to the SFs then he could do it and if anyone can Andy can she thinks

I've always liked Martina and I like what she says here too.  A very fair assessment of Andy's situation.  Thanks Ruthie.

Generally fair and considered, as Martina generally is.  However, I take issue with oft repeated theory that Nadal was instantly back to winning big.  He had an amazing come-back, but he came back for the South American swing, which eased him in very nicely.  He got a lot of matches under his belt before he faced any serious challenges.

I think what Navratilova had to say was fair and balanced. I also liked the way she talked about Andy's game, the problem, if you like, when a player has a lot of variety, and how that can take time to be used after a time out. A nice problem to have, mind you.

The bigger shock for me was VW being nice earlier in the week. What has she had, a personality transplant?

Rusedski puts Andy as third or fourth favourite apparently. Third I can see, but fourth? Wake the lad up when the tourney is over. He has to be asleep.
