That's my take on it too. I'd love Andy to win one, but a decent showing in the other would be fine before the USO, which I'd really love him to win again.

Win Montreal Andy love, it's a much nicer trophy as I recall Smile.
I'm not fussed what he does or doesn't win so long as he gives it his all, which I'm confident he will do, but, as I think I've already said, I believe Andy is in a better place now psychologically than Djokovic.  Meanwhile Fed is reported to have pulled out of Montreal because of his back problem and Nadal's knees have to be suspect, so for the moment at least, the scales seem to be tipped in Andy's favour when it comes to winning this tournament.  Raonic is being widely hyped in Canada as the home-grown favourite to win it, something I really can't see happening, although I wouldn't like Andy to meet him in the early stages.

Andy was always one of the very few who could beat Federer in his hay day. The only other was Nadal!

Now every top 100 player wants him on their CV.

I'm just looking forward to  the Rogers Cup starting. It would be wonderful if Andy went on a winning streak but it is the US Open that's important
Meanwhile its been sad to see a great player like Federer beaten so easily by Del Bonis and now Brands.

I can see him doing the HC MS double and USO, right now the field is pretty weak Fed is declining rapidly, Nadal knees poss other issues, Novak has confidence issues against Andy, half the field been taken out by doping suspensions! Literally i think a healthy Delpo is Andy's most dangerous oppenent right now. And I cant see anyone outside of Novak, Delpo or Andy for USO.

Aileen, I meant to reply to your comment. I hadn't thought that the manky vase might have a use! I could just see Andy using the revolting thing in practice w00t.

I mean, honestly, that trophy is gross. I honestly wonder whether the tournament organiser just has a strange sense of humour. They can't really be serious about that trophy, can they?
I think he'll find it very handy for keeping his odd socks in!  Wink

I wonder when Federer will decide whether he's fit enough to play or not?  No doubt the organisers will give him till the very last minute, if necessary.

Evolution of language, innit? wink

I'm (ahem) old enough to be one of those kids who was taught to spell phonetically at school. It enriched my linguistic repertoire. ie: 'philosophical'... 'filosofical'

As long as you know how to spell correctly, it doesn't matter.

I'd already expressed my disgust at that too Linda.  In fact if I could have done so I'd have got in touch with organisers.  It's very disrespectful to Andy, and it isn't like they haven't had plenty of time to think about it either.
