Well it's less than a week away so time for a new thread don't you think my friends?
Been reading reports in today's Independent and Guardian and pleased to see that Andy is very sensibly playing down the idea that the big 3 are down and out.
My attempt at posting the link from the Independent has failed but will try again in a moment, together with the Guardian one.  Here they are now:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/tennis/can-murray-cash-in-at-us-open-while-rivals-show-the-strain-2342188.html
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/aug/22/andy-murray-us-open

The latter questions Andy's belief that it doesn't take high risk tennis to beat Nole, citing the high risk tennis Monfils played at Cinci.  But then Monfils didn't beat Nole did he?  And Andy doesn't say it's not about taking any risks but says 'it's not about just taking risks'...  Would be interested to know what others think.  How far should Andy be sticking to his game, as tailored to each opponent, and how far should he play a more aggressive game, which he does do sometimes to good effect.  What lessons will he learn from his defeat by Rafa at Wimbledon I wonder?

Does anyone know if Andy is training with Cahill this week in NY once he's rested after Cinci?
And the big question: will he or won't he be wearing red?    w00t
Anyway, hope you have a great week in the big apple Andy and can't wait for battle to begin even if I am  nervous  cmon yeah

I've changed the poll to the serious one but still isn't working.

I'd like to see Andy taking a few more risks when he plays a 'fit' Nole, as Nole doesn't usually make nearly so many unforced errors as he did the other day! Also, the risky shots Andy did play, though he's bound to miss some, mostly paid off! I don't like it when he appears to be just waiting for the other guy to make an error......I'd like to see him coming into the net more, but then, what do I know?

I agree Caz in particular re coming into the net more as he is so good at the net.  People like Johnnie Mac says he has such good hands - he should use them.  And I think I agree too re taking more risks but judiciously and perhaps he wasn't judicious enough after that awful miss against Rafa.

I noticed that Fish managed to win most of the points against Andy when he came into the net, and Nole did too! I sooo wanted Andy to do the same. Seems to me, he used to go in a lot more often than he does of late........remember those fantastic lobs he used to do? He was 'The King of lobs', but he hardly ever does that now!

Djokovic is the only worry and he's got more chance of beating him here than he does at the AO.

I'm sure something similar was said this time last year...
