Btw everyone seems to be assuming Rafa will be playing a succession of 5 set matches.  But given his relatively easy draw he could easily win in straight sets every match and then have a day to recover so I don't think we can rely on him wearing himself out in 5 setters.

Don't think anybody has said that or assumed that he will be playing consecutive 5 set matches, people have been discussing him playing a fortnight's worth of best of 5 set matches, something he hasn't done in a while on hardcourt, and he may well win most of them in straights, but it's a big step up for his knees so let's see how he handles it.

Andy has slipped from outright favourite to 3rd favourite in the last few weeks. Disappointing but its a combination of Nadal's sensational form and a very poor couple of tournaments by Andy.

Skybet odds to win US Open

Nadal  7/4
Joker   9/4
Andy   7/2
Fed    11/1
DelPo 11/1
Berditch   40/1

My stomach is beginning to churn, just thinking about the Open.  But anything can happen to any one of the players.  This is a new pressure on Andy to do well, but I think he has learned how to handle the pressure better thanks to Lendl.

Too bad he didn't do better in the last couple of tournaments, and keep that #2 ranking.
