Unfortunately this is the first year in the last 3 or 4 that I think Andy has absolutely  no chance of winning Wimbledon. He's just not shown the improvement this year we all hoped to see and he will probably have to beat BOTH Joker and Nadal to win it. I doubt he can beat one of them because the gap has widened this year in my opinion between these 2 guys and the rest. Even Federer can't keep up. So for me Andy can only realistically reach the semi-finals this year.

BigNose, and what would you do if Andy went beyond the semi-final at Wimbledon?

I think it was Scotsgeek who said that he’s going to run naked at St. Andrews with “Andy’s ****” written on his arse if Andy wins Wimbldon.

I suggest you top that.

Why do I almost never agree with you on anything  Think
But here i have a partial agreement.
I don't think Andy can beat Rafa in a slam that is not a HC, and even then I'm only 50/50 at best.
The new aggressive Andy is not ready yet although i wouldnt be surprised if he took it to 5 this time.
I'm pretty sure he can take Novak out.
Although he won it last year it isnt a surface like clay where he is simply better than Andy and his results previously to last year were slightly worse.
Sadly i feel it will be one of fedal again, and sadly for you not the fed part
of this tired concept.

theycanbillme, the way fed's playing at the mo. I'd be surprised he gets beyond the quarters. His problem is the same as Andy's- can he beat Novak and Rafa? Doubt it. More likely to be Rafole, I think.

I'm not feeling that novak is getting to every final again, although if he is not in Andy's half then he obviously has a much better chance. Like you I doubt he'll even meet Roger in the semis.
I didnt mean a fedal final, I meant Rafa against someone else.
I'm still hopeful about Andy getting his act together in time for the US Open.
An olympic medal at Wimbledon could be a definitive moment.
its easy for me to say but surely he has a great chance of any of the medals on grass over a 3 setter?
I have conveniently forgot about China so please don't remind me  Whistle

But there's a first time in everything, isn't Bill? Both Nadal and Federer play into Andy's direct weakness especially in a GS - his fragile mental state - otherwise, neither has the game to hurt Andy in the real sense these days. I know it feels like long distance but I feel Andy’s very close.

All things considered – I do think Nadal will be the factor here and not just for Andy but for everyone else on the tour. It will be tough to beat him.

Theres a lot of hype on Nadal at the moment. The clay court season is where it is generated of course, but i would like to see how it plays out on grass.
Even if there was a shock deafeat of Rafa this year at Wimbledon, i just don't see Andy taking it as there has been zero momentum from him for months now. But with Andy one can be surprised of course.
He has been getting closer and closer to taking out nadal out wimbledon and has a much better chance in a semi than a final but i'm not going there for obvious reasons.

It can have some sort of affect I guess but going into USO, it may run its course. Andy will have to gear it up and without the help of a "Davis Cup" moment. It should now be essential for him and he should be quite hungry too. Sometimes a strong desire to win can take you to the extra mile even if you don't have the goods. I mean look at Nadal. Sheer will and consistency has gotten him this far. Why should a talent like Andy wait for this long? Obviously he's lacking something and it's the sheer drive. Oh and a country that stands between them more often than not.

Too many choices perhaps?
Sometimes being a "simpler" talent like Rafa can make the road ahead seem very clear.
You might be right about the Olympics but a Gold medal i think could still be a moment.
