Andy going loco down in Acapulco

Some names filtering through from the draw?  Pablo Andujar first round?  Gulbis and Dmitrov same half but after quarters. Draw not complete yet?
Gulbis or Dimtrov in semis probably

Murray plays Andujar in the first round.
He just lost to Nadal in a very tough match.

Yup. He's well up for it.

Andy's draw:

R1: Andujar
R2: Mannarino/Joao Sousa
QF: Simon/Q/Melzer/Nieminen
SF: Gulbis/Dimitrov

Not too bad.  Andujar as a starter is quite tough though!?

Nah, Andujar is pretty useless on hard court, and with only maximum of 2 days getting used to the conditions, assuming he flies out today, he won't have much time to adjust.

My main worry is Gulbis, Murray needs a good returning day to have any chance because Ernests is on fire.

Needs to learn how to beat big hitters again and stop dumping balls into the net.

He may not play Gulbis, so I'm going to take each match as it comes.By the time he gets there he will be well played in. Smile

Quite right.  Every player is a danger if they have a good day and Andy has a bad one?  Hoping for a Semi place at worst and a finalist or winner ideally. He has to avoid another loss in the quarters to get the scent of a win that will be key to making progress.

not the easiest of draws given the biggest names are not playing.  I guess he probably won't play before Tueday given Andujar needs time to get there and adjust to change of surface.

Me too. No better preparation or training than winning

Andy will have to play better than he has thus far this season to win this comp. I feel he needs to win this one for confidence as much as anything. Losing isnt good for confidence regardless of recovery process. Nadal played an array of 250s on clay just to build confidence....I think Andy should have done the same.

^ Why would Andy need to play an array of clay tournaments to build his confidence, Acapulco is on hard?

Andy has already played more this year than at the same point last year. It'll click for him when he is ready. Hopefully the DC success, w here he did play well, will boost him.

Nadal wasn't recovering from surgery when he came back.
