I understand the notion and it sounds noble too but I don't think it really works that way in real life. I remember being on Samprazfanz site for a long time, which obviously was a fanbase site just like this one; however, the big difference is, we almost never had any disputes and there was no slamming when things didn't go our way either. Sampras had fans from all over the world and that added a lot of variety but it remained civil for the most part. Do you really enjoy this Scottish/English thing that goes on here? If anything it feels highly dysfunctional. I get it has its history and that's in fact the reason why things get so ugly here at times, even between people who are from the same country though not from the same part of country. I have seen some of the worst name callings on the BBC site as far as Murray is concerned btw and I could not believe that these are the same people from the same country. Begs the question, doesn’t' it?
Nobility has nothing to do with it.

It's hard to explain really. I just feel a certain affinity with British sportsmen.

It's a bit like with football really. I never chose who I supported, rather I grew up with them all around me. It's no surprise I support the same team as my dad.

Same with individual sports, like tennis or golf or F1. I don't choose who I support, I just end up supporting the British guys because they represent my country.

Here's food for thought - do you support the Canadians at the Olympics? It's a very similar notion. I think it's just natural for many people to support those who represent their nation.

I've always been a bit ignorant and assumed everyone was the same but clearly in your case it's not, so thanks for opening my eyes a little bit. Obviously everyone has their own reasons for supporting any player or team. For me it's never been a choice, more an affinity. I expect it's the same for many others, but likewise I understand that there always several others who support players/teams for different reasons.

Won the vital point at 5-4, 40-40, set/break point. Had they lost that it would have been back on serve!

Still don't understand why they've introduced that, so stupid. Ultimately the entire set came down to that one point, which vitally they won.

5-3 up in the 2nd set now. Smile

You're more live than live score tmh as that was still stuck on 3-3 when I double checked a moment ago!

Haha I'm just using the ATP/WTA iPhone app!

5-4 now, Murray's to serve for it.

Will see out this game then really need to get to Sainsbury's, hopefully they can wrap this up.  pray

Three match points.
