Andy in Indian Wells 2012
« on: March 05, 2012, 12:10 AM »
Thought someone might have stareted a thread on this but
Seeing 5 days of Andy playing tennis in Dubai was brilliant for me, though the outcome at the end wasn't quite fairytale but still nice to see him winning matches.
I can't get on to the APT Tour website from work atm
but I see (via other sources) that Novak is defending champion here.
I'm sure that I read somwhere that the draw is on March 6th, so will be interesting to see where Andy will be.
And it also appears that I have some decent coverage on tv for this and Miami too

Andy made the final here in 2009, where he lost to Rafa 6-1, 6-2.
Fedex hasn't won here since 2006 and Ivan Ljubicic won here in 2010
Novak is defending champion.
Andy and Jamie are down to play doubles too.
Should be a good tournie for all concerned.

Rafa refused to be swayed and Andy was blown away.....

Draw is tomorrow at 3pm Californian time - so that would be at 11pm UK time, I believe.
Hoping for a nice draw so he can ease himself in, what with any possible jet-lag and time needed to get used to the courts!

It's time Andy wins this one. Depends on the draw though but still.

It's often a popular tournament for the top guys to play doubles - helps them get used to the conditions I guess.

one things for sure Fed will not win this tournament... Im 99.9 % sure he wont... the courts in IW are too slow for him Im intrigued to see Rafa coming back ... I wonder how he will perform? I think Andy has a fantastic chance of winning this tournament
just depends on the draw
hopefully Andy will get a more favorable draw this time and get a better schedule that doesn't involve playing every single morning match!

Isnt it the last one out there that he still has yet to?
Bar Paris & the clay ones that is.

Yes, I think so. Paris is still indoor but if he was to win 2 Masters, I'd definitely want him to win both Miami and Paris. Oh and 1 Clay Masters.

After last week, I'm not really worried about the draw - Andy has proved he can beat anyone. The schedule's different though - I do hope he doesn't have to play all his matches in the worst of the heat.

He actually said apparently he did not mind the heat in Dubai, that he liked it. Not humid there, which make all the difference. Also Indian Wells should be nice now, not too hot yet & very pleasant I should think.
