Shame about Roddick. I do wonder when he's going to hang up the racket. Can't say I'll miss Fish much

You just beat me to it Katie... omg I hope he gets this sorted out. If it's his sciatic nerve it's going to be an ongoing issue. I had to have surgery. Gutted for him... no wonder he was so quiet.

Andy :
"It is with regret that on doctors advice I have to withdraw from the Mutua Madrid Open with injury,” Murray said in a statement on the Madrid website. “I always love coming to Madrid so it is a big disappointment. I look forward to returning next year and wish everyone a great week of tennis.”

Yeah I wondered why there were no reports of him training in Madrid at all. I never thought of it being the sciatic nerve problem but now you mention it, it makes sense. Just hope he can recover by Rome to try and defend his semifinals points.

Oh dear - I really hope this is a minor blip and it doesn't ruin the rest of Andy's clay court season. He has my sympathy - sciatic pain can be absolutely excruciating!

Poor Andy, he will be so disappointed, but let's hope the back problem can be sorted out and that he will be fit for Rome.

This is what I said on another thread after watching his match with Milos: "However.. I'm still wondering if he was having a sciatica problem again, so the jury is still out for me."
Rafa has been vocal in his complaints about his dislike of the smurf-clay, and how slippery it is. I think Andy is wise to steer clear of this surface, and I wish him a speedy recovery. Anyone know how this will affect his points?

so he will be back for Rome @NeilHarmanTimes: I am sure that Andy will be back for Rome. He is hurting a bit and it's a very wise choice

Yes, the silence was a bit ominous wasn't it? No photos of him on the blue clay etc. Let's hope Neil Harman is right.
He'll lose 90 points for Madrid, so not too bad, but has 360 to defend in Rome.

Oh, was really looking forward to this. Really hope he's back for Rome otherwise he's going to be going into RG cold. More than that I really hope it's not long-term. Only drops 90 this week but also misses out on the chance to get 180-360 in the race to London and pick up a few points on Roger. This whole clay season has been a bit of a disaster so far.
