Andy in Miami 2012
« on: March 14, 2012, 09:21 AM »
Unfortunately, the run in Indian Wells is now at an end with Andy and Jamie losing their doubles tie on Tuesday
but time to move on and travel to a different state (Florida) and a different time zone
Advertised as taking place from 19th March to 1st April
Just caught this from the official Sony Ericsson Open website:-
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic will begin his quest to defend his 2011 Sony Ericsson Open title on Saturday, March 24 (Session 10) at 8:00 p.m. Djokovic’s opponent, along with the rest of the men’s field, will be determined on
Monday, March 19 when the tournament draw is announced
.
Nice to see Andy's name on the list of past champions and another tournie that Fedex hasn't won since 2006 (I'm sure IW is the same but that could ALL change
)
No idea if Andy's playing doubles - can't see any entry list for that.
Anyhow, one game at a time
Hopefully Andy will be able to spend some time with Ivan before he plays is first game.
Good Luck Andy!
Oh, found some highlights of the final in 2009 too. Enjoy (though I don't know how good they are! )

Very unlucky for Andy and Jamie. Could have gone either way. The doubles matches will have provided Andy with the opportunity to develop his serve and volleying skills. Andy will likely play doubles in Miami.

I'm glad Andy is on his way to Miami,he has his own apartment and can stay away from the locker room and any residue sickness that is still going around.

Thanks for opening the thread Bev and for providing all the info.
The main tournament actually starts on 21 March. Prior to that it's the qualifying rounds. Thank goodness for a more civilised time zone (well for the UK anyway) but remember that until the UK goes onto BST on the 25th the time difference will be GMT -4, the US having already gone on to daylight saving.

Andy likes to get his priorities right.
At least Lendl will be with Andy in Miami, so I'm hoping for better things here.

I'd thought 2nd round was starting next Friday but Sky won't be televising till the Saturday so if Andy is in half of draw that goes first, I guess won't be able to watch it on tv. I can quite understand why Sky doesn't televise 1st round when the top seeds have byes but to miss the first day of 2nd round (if I'm right from my reading of miami website), is a bit much.

It's like this every year - no TV coverage until Saturday; which is the second day of R2. Here's hoping Andy gets drawn in Novak's half - then we can watch him on Saturday.

I'd forgotten that batz - jesus we pay enough money for sky sports, you'd think they could manage to cover it from the start of 2nd round.

Does anyone know if they are covering both matches from IW tonight on Sky? I can only find the Nadal match listed.

Yes I think they are - one after the other ie the same programme. Last night the fed-delpo match was on the red button so I guess just possible that might be the case again tonight.

Hope/assume Andy and Lendl have been watching the IW semis and taking notes accordingly... especially on Fed who is currently in-the-zone this Olympic year.
