Falla prefers the dirt. But Andy is so traditionally poor at this stage of an event that you can never tell with him. Those defeats to Bogomolov and Young will live long in the memory.
The big difference this year is not only Andy's improved mental attitude - and let's face it, he was in a monumental funk when he played IW and Miami last year - but, as you know, he has Lendl with him here. We will never know quite what went wrong in IW this time round, but I'm prepared to believe Cahill that it was a blip.
I'm pleased that Andy will be facing Falla rather than Istomin. Sounds like Andy is training well with Lendl this week so hopefully that will translate to a good match on Friday, fingers crossed.
Are you sure about that Katie because I'm thinking Andy won't play until Saturday as that's apparently when the other Big Boys kick off. Also Sky and tennisTV (my live-streaming) don't start televising matches until then.
