On paper, Andy's game is quite well suited to clay - good baseline play, lots of stamina, good touch, dealy dropshots (when used wisely) and capable of generating lots of spin.  I'm quite excited about the season, especially with a measely 520 points to defend Very Happy

I hate clay and can't wait for him to be off it!  I hate Monte Carlo more!  I can never see the ruddy ball! ranting  I hope it proves fruitful for Andy though yes

Yeah, I usually close my eyes and wait for grass. I just hate the way clay is played. So many of Andy's weapons are neutralised.

Then we will pray together for a fast and fruitful claycourt season! pray

For me I don’t really have high expectations for Andy on the clay this year, all I’m looking for is a year on year improvement at this stage of his career.

With Alex Corretja on board at least he is getting good advice and it has been stated that he his a keen student and willing to learn when it comes to his game so it is not all doom and gloom, having said that it could well be another year or too yet before we start seeing the full benefit to his clay court game.

There will also be clay court specialist whose ranking would suggest that Murray should beat easily but in reality he will struggle against and that’s fine. At least this year he is carrying good form and confidence is sky high so hopefully first round exits will be a thing of the past.

I think one thing Andy may struggle with on clay is the fact one of his favourite rally-making shots is the slow sliced backhand, as it won't stay as low on the red stuff.

One promising aspect from the last couple of matches is that he hit quite a few winners, more than normal.

With a little adjustment to certain aspects of his game, I'm convinced Andy could do well on this surface. Playing to his seeding in the tournaments would be brilliant........

andy really likes clay court but i play tennis and i also like hard or grass courts and think that the clay is way too slow these days for example a serve could leave a racket at a massive speed and slow down when it touches the court and andy agrees with me.

andy is so confident this year i think he might make the semis....but i think hell make the quarters
but its way too hard to say as murray can struggle on clay vs the 50th player in the world

im confindent in murray and i say cmon murray !!!!!!!!!!

Dont like clay courts....it,s a bit like putting up a  net in the middle of a building site, paint the lines and heh! we have a tennis court.....Andy is a quick learner and i honestly think he will do very well this year on clay......Andys first major win on clay? Dont bet against it......expect the unexpected. thumb up

Anyone know when the draw is made? Can't see it on the tourney website, wish the ATP would make it compulsory that all websites give a date and time. Apparently the first round starts on Sunday so i'm guessing it'll be Friday at the latest? Think
