Yeah Del Potro has it in him, he just needs it all to come together at the right time, needs a few more big wins to settle his nerves about getting the business end of a Grand Slam

Well, it's nonsense to logically compare a Grand Slam and a couple of ATP tournaments. Also, Nadal failed to reach the final, it's not as if he missed the tournament.
In any case, Del Potro seems to be the leader of the chasing pack, I'd back him to win a slam in the next 2 years.
I don't think it's
nonsense
in the sense that it is the same players playing the same game albeit not over two weeks.
I just think it is a little sad that the same old chestnut is always hauled out for inspection when a player wins a tournament and another or others of his peers are absent from the competition. Not that this point of view is ever going to go away and of course it can be applied to several of Andy's wins too.

I agree with Andrew, it is nonsense - anyone can win an ATP event, only the elite can win a Slam apart from in very exceptional circumstances.
In most ATP events, it's not the same quality of field as a Slam and the top players are less motivated to win, so you can't really just say it's the same players but not over two weeks.

Im just interested to see how Nadal plays coming back in and also how Roger plays being a father (my mum has a theory about fatherhood leading to a drop in game level
)
Should be a good tournament though

Really ! Not the same quality of field? Are you saying that the players who enter the Masters Series are not the same players who enter the Slams? One of us is very confused

You seemed to have missed the fact that I used the word "most", I'm well aware that there are exceptions like MS events, so my point still stands in its original form.
