I'm not doubting Andy's clay credentials, simply pointing out that Juan Monaco will be a very difficult test on clay.

There's no need to get silly about it. Stats can prove whatever you want them to. All that's being said here is that Monaco has had past success on clay and in a single match has the ability to beat Andy, who is still finding his way into consistency on the surface. It's not outrageous to say that this could be a tough match.

Fognini and Monaco are quite different in terms of their ability - Monaco has won 3 ATP titles on clay, Fognini hasn't even reached an ATP final yet.

TROICKI, Viktor's win was first match in Rome I did not predict correctly on " Draw Challenge Circuit"  so I am no longer no 1 Rome predictor. By the way Why dont we have a Group on " Draw Challenge Circuit"

Here's another way of putting it:  I think there are a number of players stilll  in the draw that would give Andy an easier time than Monaco.

You go on about  me  quoting last years stats and your entire argument is based on Monacos 2007 season when he would have slaughtered Murray on clay but they are playing in 2009.

Please list the top 10 players this amazing clay court superstar Juan Monaco has beaten on clay in the last couple of years?....

Let's see he beat Bandy in the semi's in Buenos Aires this year. Bandy was ranked 10 then (but now is 18)..

He beat Nadal in cincy R2 in 2007 when nadal had to retire injured...hardly counts.

Later that year he beat robredo and davy on clay also...

I don't see anything to scare me here.  A nice opening workout for Andy, nothing more...

Andy was only playing doubles as a favour to Ross if you want to be brutal about it, not exactly a priority for him, nothing more than a lil workout ahead of the main action!

The doubles was like the charity match. a nice warm up and help his movement  on the clay of this venue.
