With respect Prod, two matches doesn't sound much, but it's two best of five set matches on clay. It could also be three matches. I interpreted the DC information as Andy might be playing the dubs as well, so that would be three best of five set matches in three days. Whatever way you look at it, that is a lot of tennis.
If I was thinking of myself I'd love him to play it all, but I do think Andy is mentally weary. My worry is that will make him more susceptible to injury and he does not need that.
It's up to Andy of course. He may well feel better playing than not. I just wonder if there is some sense in him playing DC, assuming he wants to, then taking some time off to get back on his feet before getting himself right for Shanghai, where he has a great record.
Doubles is not much of a toll on the body.
Andy has had schedules like this before and been fine.
I don't think there's much to worry about.
