Hi Andy lost to Gonzalez. It's no shame, I expected it. Gonzalez is a great player. He reached the quaterfinals... I would have loved to see him win the tournament but that's not realistic. Greetz

Watching Murray eventually lose didn't make me sad after such a brilliant performance from both players. Andy pulled off some amazing shots but so did Gonz which was the problem. It was a match meant for a final and next time Murray will be fitter. That match was an absolute joy to watch.

A star in the making!! Andy deserves some good rest before the Aussie Open... and Murray Mania 2006...here we come!!!

Depending on other players results, he could be..
RACE 80 (+9)
ENTRY 64 (+6)

If he's like this at 18 - injuries permitting - he's going to be phenomenal in a couple of years.

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

will his ranking rise again? if so, where to roughly? Andy will get 55 ranking points for reaching the Q/Fs. Where he ends up depends on other players not defending points and so on, but this page from the ATP site explains the breakdown of points available: http://www.atptennis.com/en/players/entrysystem/entrypoints.asp

Thanks for that. I've searched before but could never find what points Challengers held. All is now clear.

Andy will get 55 ranking points for reaching the Q/Fs. Where he ends up depends on other players not defending points and so on, but this page from the ATP site explains the breakdown of points available: At this time of the year his ENTRY points of 55 are useless. It's the the RACE points that are important and he will receive only 12 of those. That's why he needs to forget about Challengers, as they don't give out RACE points. Much better to try for wild cards and qualifying for the main tournaments.

No ATP events left this year that he can play.

No challengers then? Good for him probably, but not so good for us! How will we survive without an Andy match to follow till the new year?
