Berdych might not get that far anyway.  He didn't get beyond R3 in Montreal, going out to Pospisil.

However, given that we stressed about Andy playing Dimitrov first in Montreal, and then he didn't, so now we're assuming he'll meet Gulbis ...

Talking about coincidences in draws, Fognini could meet Baghdatis in again in R2.  Foggy has to be the big unknown as far as Andy's concerned because they haven't played since MC in 2009.

@Aileen: Berdych plays better on faster surfaces, Cincy is faster than Montreal.

My prediction is a final between The Tradesman and Jerzy Janowicz/Novak Djokovic

Thanks PE.  So will Cincy be of benefit to Andy?  My one concern is that should Andy & Colin get to the finals, Andy won't have much time to adjust to the conditions there.

Contrary to what people say, Andy is actually a good player on faster surfaces, than he is on slower surfaces. He has won Shanghai twice, and Cincy twice, and they are two of the faster Masters 1000 HC's on tour, and he has also won Tokyo which is pretty fast.

He should do well here.

Andy does not wan't to make Gulbis ego even bigger. If they draw to meet in the US open and Andy lost the match in Cincy it would give Gulbis a huge confidence boost beating Andy Murray twice in a row. We do not need that.

I don't think it matters.... both players at the top of their game...Id bet on Andy every time..no doubts.

The good thing now that Nadal is in the Montreal final is that Andy is less likely to lose to him in the SFs here. And if he does with Nadal being in both finals he will surely be a little bit fatigued going into the US Open which is always a positive.

I think it has been an excellent decision to play the doubles. Doubles will sharpen his net and the baseline rallies will be good for Andy to get his rhythem back. He mentioned this in his interview this morning on BBC. He will be fine. As far as Gulbis is concerned A ndy will wish his revenge. All looks good.
