Nadal/Joker are currently the 1st and 2nd best players in the world (not necessarily in that order) whatever the rankings say.

As regards seeding if Andy is seeded 2 at Rolland Garros it will be a bit silly. Andy is clearly not the 2nd best player on the world on clay so why make him second seed? Its bananas. Every other top player will be praying they are in Andy's half.
We're yet to see who is better out of Andy and Nadal outside the clay. Don't forget that the last time they played Andy bageled a fully fit Nadal. And he's improved heavily since then.

BN I have only one word to say in reply, and I apologise to everyone beforehand. That one word is ********. Someone else can elaborate on that. I don't intend to debate with someone who only posts on here to have a go at Andy and wind other people up. You talk a load of utter crap.

You've missed the hole completely. You do know if Andy is seeded No.2 (highly likely), he could face the prospect of avoiding Rafa, Fed and Nole who all could be in the same half with their respective rankings of #1, #3 and #5. Andy really should be allowed the No.2 seed, because despite his rough clay season so far, he has achieved a lot elsewhere (won Miami and broke the post Australian Open drought). He should not be the victim of a lower seeding then his ranking suggests just because he is no fan of the surface.

I forgot the censoring, it did rather ruin the effect lol. It was b.oll.ocks. Not a word I'd usually aim at someone (I don't really like swearing at people) but apt in the circumstances I thought.

The point about the seeding is ridiculous, and I agree with you completely. One or two comms brought it up last week, suggesting they should make Nadal second seed (Barry Cowan) and it annoyed me. RG does its seedings based on rankings. Andy is 2 in rhe world and he is there by right, based on his performance this year. He's worked for that ranking and shouldn't be penalised for Nadal, and neither should Ferrer for that matter.

Changing the way RG does things just to accomodate Nadal would be grossly unfair in my view, to Andy and Ferrer, but also to other players who have had extended injury breaks and haven't had that advantage on surfaces they perform well on. The fact is that if Nadal is good enough to win RG, he is good enough to win it wherever he is seeded.

It isn't clear at all that Nadal is top two at this point. He's played clay tournaments and Indian Wells this year, all of which suit his game to a tee. Let's see how he fairs on the grass and in the US Open series before we leap to conclusions.

They can easily fiddle which quarter or half of the draw Nadal ends up in.  It's pointless changing the seedings, and it would be unfair for all of the other clay court specialists who could have had much better draws every other year if they did it that way.   The snub would be to them for never getting special consideration, and everyone who has seen their ranking suffer after an injury lay-off, rather than it being particularly unfair to Andy/Ferrer IMO.

I'm not sure it would make much of a difference to Andy or Rafa if they swapped seeding positions.  Andy's going to be in the opposite half to Novak, which probably means he'll be in the same half as Rafa.    The draw will be designed to allow for a Novak/Rafa final.  They might fancy a Roger/Rafa clash along the way too.

Having watched the rather shambolic proceedings at the Rome draw yesterday, I can quite see how a draw can be easily rigged.  I would put any money on Rafa being on Andy's side of the draw for RG and Ferrer too.
