Ferrer a drainer, on grass? LOL.

Ferrer's a drainer for Andy anywhere, really not only grass. I agree with Luke. I don't want Andy to draw Ferrer.

Andy has yet to beat two of the other three members of the big four in a slam back to back let alone 3 of them, that's and asking a bit too much, heck even the other 3 have never achieved that.

I would rather he avoid a tough 1/4 final and hopefully avoid any of them until the Final.

Andy has beaten both Nadal and Federer back to back but that was in a Masters (2010 Toronto). GSs are a much bigger deal but still, I feel Andy should be ready to beat two top players in one Major event. But in that case, his rest of the draw would have to be really easy.

But of course, the ultimate goal is to win the title and it doesn't matter who he beats along the way.

Great post Emma Jean.

I have a very good feeling about Wimby this year.  Andy is READY!!!!!

Yep, 1 round at a time and all that and Yep, the draw could be significant and Nope, none of us really want to see Nadal in Andy's Quarter.  But, 1 thing for sure - the top 8 seeds won't all be in the QF's so bring it on!!

Good draw = R16 Tipsy/Cilic, QF Tsonga/Del Potro, SF Ferrer/Federer
Iffy draw   = R16 Raonic/Stan QF Rafa/Berdych SF Ferrer/Federer

I think I'm saying that if Andy gets to to the Semis - he'll win it!  yay yay yay

Also, as far as the crowd is concerned, the crowd will be fine if Andy's in the QF's and he's on Centre Court and it's on the 2nd Wed - because I'll be there  yay- row 7 opposite the umpire's chair and.............I'll be noisy!!

That would be awesome, Mackem if Andy makes the qtr and you are there to see him on that Wednesday. Hope it pans out exactly that way. And yes, be very, very, very noisy!

You mean Ferrer? Yes but only to save Andy's energy. I don't think he enjoys playing Ferrer all that much. Miami anyone? Though a few of their matches were good in the past but lately, it's taking a tedious turn. Andy's more lethal on grass though but he may not want to bring his best against Ferrer.

Not going to happen this time.

Vulture is a joke.

Can you drop the vulture bit please, it wasn't funny the first thousand times you used it, and it still isn't funny.

Thanks for the info drchef! Interesting to see they haven't seeded Nadal higher for Wimbledon, as Andy thought they should, but then Andy is such a lovely guy!

I was about to say that I don't know why, but I have a feeling about Andy and Wimbledon this year. Then I thought about it. I know exactly why I have the feeling. He got to the Wimbledon final last year, he won the Olympics, beating Djokovic and Federer (and in straight sets) along the way, and he won Queen's this year, and it's not as if he didn't play any decent grass court players to do it. Mahut, Tsonga and Cilic might not be top four, but they can all play on the surface very well, certainly well enough, I would have thought, to give Andy some idea of his form. He looks pretty good to me. That doesn't make him winning a given, of course it doesn't, but I do like his chances.

I thought the way Andy moved at Queen's was as well as he's moved for most of the year, and much better at times. Of course, best of five is a sterner test of his fitness, but he has a team to help make sure he is ready. I'm sure he will be raring to go. He looks comfortable within himself at the moment.

Like the media, I think we're all becoming a bit set on the idea of Andy playing Nadal in the quarters, as if that is a given. It isn't. Nadal being seeded five could place him in the quarters with any of the top four. It could also be that Djokovic, Nadal and Federer all end up on the opposite side of the draw from Andy, which might be fun. If Andy was to meet Ferrer in the semi's I'd fancy Andy's chances heavily. Ferrer has never beaten him on grass, and only ever once on hard. It wouldn't necessarily be easy, they have had some tough matches, but someone like Ferrer, who could test Andy, might be good for him ahead of a final. He'd certainly be match sharp. Last year Ferrer did push Andy, but ultimately it was Andy who won, in four sets.

It's hard to know how the draw will go, so it's hard to predict. It's also hard to judge how matches will go. I read somewhere just yesterday that Nadal is saying he hasn't been able to practice for Wimbledon - I'm not 100% sure I entirely believe him, but you never know. You have to wonder about Federer as well. I know it's grass and I know he won Halle, but surely going in to Wimbledon with only the one title under his belt can't fill him with confidence.

As for Andy, one match at a time, quite obviously, but plenty of room for optimism as well.

Anyone knows how this -draw- system works? I would say that the 5h seeded has to play against number 4. Is it just as random?, so is it 25% chance that Andy meets Nadal?

I don't think I've ever been so curious about the draw. How late is itFriday?

Completely random, you can't say where any of the seeds would be in the draw apart from 1 and 2. The draw starts at 10am Friday morning I believe.
