Pah I disagree, what harm has it done? He wanted to do it and it put his mind somewhat at ease..
It did do him harm - many people lot some respect for him as they assumed he did it primarily for money, I was also one of the people who made this assumption at the time. After all, there's no reason why he couldn't have told his side of the story through different means, even just posting something up on his website would have probably got more exposure.

According to Andy's comments earlier this year, it suggests he did indeed release his autobiography primarily for money and he regrets it. The whole 'Hitting Back' thing appears to have been an excuse to get a book out.

Andy had this to say,

Sometimes when you're young, you make some bad decisions - that wasn't one of my better ones. I wish I hadn't done it.

As you get older, you learn that money is not the most important thing. I like to make decisions based on what's best for my tennis, best for my career, best for me and the people that are around me.

When the announcement of the book was made, 82% of MurraysWorld readers were against it.

Well, I can see what you are saying, and I agree that it it didn't really help hid credability. And it seems quite strange that if he regretted it so much, why did he release the second? Think

Good question....

Maybe he has a contract with the publisher that says he can't stop the sale of the book and therefore the only thing he can do to lessen the embarrassment is to keep releasing updated versions that reflect his recent achievements. If so, eventually the book may represent someone who is justified in releasing an autobiography.

I had the oriiginal book for Christmas last year and I enjoyed it - it gave an insight into the young, naive Andy Murray - his reasons for doing things and an insight into his character. From it I gained a different impression of him as a person than the one the media gives so freely and an understanding of the burgeoning man behind the dour image he sometimes portrays. He is, to my mind, a thoroughly decent human being - a very private person - who is wrestling (if you like) with a great talent. He is still discovering how to bring it to maturity, a maturity which will prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that he is indeed one of the great tennis players and not just a talented also-ran. I feel that last year saw the commencement of this maturity, warts and all, and that the best of Andy Murray is still to come over the next three years. Maybe I'm wrong - only time will tell whether he will achieve his aim but I would so love to be right - just for once! yay yay yay
