The mind doubts, but the heart never does.

Surely we don't expect him to win?  Rolling Eyes Merely to try out his back and get some much needed match practise.
Only three months ago he had a back operation. Time for a reality check.
It'd be daft to expect him to come back in previous form after the back op.  A decent showing is pretty much all we can expect.  It's about easing himself in here, I think.

Zimonjic was #1 (very briefly) a year or two ago.

Playing with Benneteau, Zimonjic lost to Andy & Colin in Montreal 1st round in August. Also lost to Jamie & John in 1st rounds of Shanghai and Valencia in October.
He sounds quite excited about playing with A Murray!

Zimonjic is still a great doubles player.

Zimonjic is still a great doubles player.

I didn't mean to suggest he wasn't - was just noticing though that the Murrays and partners had done well against him this year.

But yes - still a great doubles player, after nearly 10 years in the top 20. Hope he and Andy have fun playing together.

Gr8 news re doubles, just needs more match play now, to test that back, also lots of good volleying practise.
I'm pleased that Andy is playing doubles in Doha too.  Apart from his back he'll need sharpening up before the AO, if he plays, which, all being well, he seems determined to do.

Stuart Fraser ‏@stu_fraser 1m
Andy Murray could not have an easier draw to start his 2014 ATP season. He plays Qatari 19-year-old Mousa Zayed, who is the world No 2099...

Just three weeks ago, Zayed lost 6-0 6-0 to a Brit: Scott Clayton, the world No 1154! He also lost 6-0 6-1 to Liam Broady the previous week.

do we know what the singles draw looks like after the first round?  When I click on the draw on the tournament website I just get a blank.  The dubs draw looks quite challenging for them.

No, they seem to be taking their time getting the draw up. I'll post here when I know the draw.

From Stuart Fraser ‏again:

Murray's Doha route - R1: Zayed, R2: F Mayer/Przysiezny, QF: Verdasco, SF: Ferrer/Gasquet, F: Nadal.

The Doha website seems a bit rubbish, and on the ATP website the qualifying draw hasn't  been updated with today's results though matches finished hours ago.

A good test for Andy, at least he's in Ferrer's half so does not meet Rafa until final (if they both get there).
