TENNIS ace Andy Murray jetted off to the Bahamas yesterday for a well-earned break.
The Wimbledon champion flew out of London’s Heathrow airport to the sun-soaked islands with girlfriend Kim Sears.
As he got off the plane in the Bahamas last night, Andy tweeted: “Just got off flight... Nice 5 day break coming up before training starts again next Saturday... Going to eat a lot and do very little else.”
Andy, 26, is ready for some rest and relaxation after his tense final with rival Novak Djokovic earlier this month and the media frenzy following the historic win.
But he won’t be idle for long as he is due on court on August 5 to take part in the Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada.
The Scot ended 77 years of agony for tennis fans by becoming the first Brit to win the men’s Wimbledon singles title since Fred Perry in 1936.
It capped off a brilliant year for Andy after he won the US Open and Olympic gold medal in 2012.
The Bahamas is a favourite holiday destination for the tennis star, who often goes there to rest after Major tournaments.
In 2010, straight after being beaten by Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon semi-final, Andy was snapped relaxing with long-term girlfriend Kim, 25, beside the pool at the Cove Atlantis Hotel on the exclusive Atlantis Paradise Island.
Guests at the Atlantis Hotel, which costs £2000 a night, can enjoy 11 swimming pools, a 141-acre water park and three beaches.
The resort also features a harbour, 21 restaurants, 19 bars and lounges, and a golf course.
Former guests include Michael Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Oprah Winfrey.
After his Bahamas break, Andy is likely to head to Miami, where he has an apartment, to continue preparations for Montreal and the defence of his US Open title at the end of August.
