Just got back to see all this - brilliant! I love the whole James Ward thing too - celebrates his win over Wardy by having the Q & A #murray8ward1, rubs it in at every opportunity while "i try to stay humble and not mention it to anyone".

This is Andy Murray's life: Make joke on Twitter, mainstream press run it as fact, and then his dog sets the record straight on Twitter.

Disclaimer that shouldn't be needed: Andy Murray Twitter Q&As are awesome but not the place to find reliable breaking news. Come on, people.

dont u think andy makes it bad for himself saying such a thing, knowing the press (specifically the sun) will jump onto it straight away

That's probably why he says it. He knows they'll look stupid when they fall for it, and let's be honest, they always do.

I don't think he makes it bad for himself at all. He's a young man having an innocent laugh. I think it makes him seem normal. If he was to hurt someone's feelings, say Kim's for example, that might be different, but she knows him well enough to know when he's joking, unlike the press, or so it seems.

Liked James's comments too - Sounds like a bit of good fun and team-bonding for Friday. Fingers crossed for the team.

Haha. Think there will be quite a few media hacks not yet up to speed - here's a good example: http://www.sport24.co.za/Tennis/ATPTour/Murray-to-tie-the-knot-20140129

Neil Harman tweeted that someone (he didn't say who) played the 'Wedding March' as Andy walked into his DC press conference. Hope he saw the funny side.

Edit: Turns out it was Neil that played it. I asked him what Andy said and I got this reply:

"I received one of those sheepish smiles he doesn't do enough."

I'm sure if Andy and Kim were going to get married, a twitter Q&A session would be the first place they'd announce it. Wink

Reminds me of when he was asked same q. by a journo and replied, "But we've only just met."  clap

Andy was on the BBC news earlier on. I wondered if it was part of a wider piece on the DC tie, but they asked him about what he said on Twitter.

Andy was really funny. Barely suppressing his amusement, he said that he would have thought by now that people would know he wouldn't announce marriage plans on Twitter first Smile.

Just came across this - 'Marie Claire' obviously failing in the humour stakes: http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/celebrity/545491/kim-sears-might-be-feeling-a-little-cross-with-andy-murray-this-morning.html#index=1
