I dont really think its appropriate for a 16 yr old girl and a 22 yr old man to date. I know when I was 16 I thought it was cool to go for older guys. I can totally see it from Laura's perspective, but its up to Andy to be mature and not start a relationship like this.

Does a 16 yr old girl want her 22 yr old superstar tennis player boyfriend with girls worldwide throwing themselves at him, to be away from her 70% of the year. She is young needs to focus on herself and her career not the tissues and issues relationships bring. Unless she just becomes another Mirka sacks in her career....and just follows Andy around.

So that means she can handle a long distance adult relationship? There have been many a WTA player older than Laura getting themselves involved with these ATP players and ending up setting themselves back career wise, some never recover...Whats Vaidisova doing these days?

I didn't say that, it doesn't matter - she is probably mature enough to make the correct decision based on her own priorities. You never know, she could have fallen for Andy, and then who's to say she should be refused to be in a loving relationship? Her career is important but her happiness is important as well and sometimes you need to sacrifice your career potential to be happy in other areas of your life.

She may technically be 16 but she's mentally older and therefore we shouldn't be talking in a way that suggests she needs protection from making her own relationship decisions.

Ok fair point. I'll stick by what I said earlier in that I think it would be unwise for Andy to start anything romantic with Laura right now the gil has just just turned 16 regardless of how mature she is it's not clever publicity, and is bound to have repercussions. If they remain friends for a year or 2 before anything happens I think the nation would embrace them as a golden couple.
