Novak has beaten nobody of any noteworthy quality since Wimbledon. I've read comments on MTF that he is in imperious form - really?

I was thinking similar. Form looks a little better in New York though.

Andy and Nole's match 2nd night match on Ashe, as expected.
Oh damn!  I guess that could mean around 1:30-2am here.  I know I'm a bit of a night owl, but I don't like having my nerves shaken up at that time!

She could barely walk. Probably going to lose tomorrow now.
I'm not wishing injuries on Serena or anyone else, but a quick match would be very acceptable, so maybe around 1:30?

As for the match itself, I really don't know which way to go here, nor even predict the length of the match.  In fact for the first time that I can remember I've gone for the comedy option. Rolling Eyes  Andy certainly looked like a man on a mission against Tsonga, but I'm not sure if he's quite up there yet.  Yes, he's well on the way back to top form, of that there's no doubt, and he's said himself that he's very close to playing his best tennis.  On the other hand, and I admit I haven't seen Djoko play here, but how far will his focus be on the match given the circumstances of his personal life?  One positive though is that Andy tends to play better later in the day than he does earlier because, like me, he isn't a 'morning' person by nature.

To be honest I'm not as worried about this match as I was about the Tsonga one because Andy desperately needed that win.  I just want him to go out there and give of his best and if wins I'll be very happy, and if he loses I'll be disappointed although I certainly won't be too downhearted.  As @Hamish says, he's done remarkably well this year, all things considered, but I think we need to be patient a little longer and that hopefully 2015 will be a really good year for him.

Do you think that Serena might give Penetta a walkover or start and fold if she cannot play well enough because of the foot?  There have been few walkovers in the men's but none in the women's? Penetta went through in the doubles with Hingis so having a good tournament.

No. She will never withdraw from a Slam match. She will fight and win.

I believe in her.  pray

No way is Serena going to let the chance of winning another Slam slip from her grasp.

Lovely video thank you. Remembering how great Andy is.

Andy under the lights, with the Andy boys in the crowd cheering, I know Andy will come out ready to play his best.

Good luck Andy! Come out with confidence and great belief in yourself. You know how to beat Novak, you've done it in the important times and you can do it again. We will all be sending you good vibes. Stay focused and ready to fight for this match. Love you Andy.

Love that video Gnome. Andy should watch it before the match.

I wish the game was just a little earlier for his sake as his first night game, but very gald that it is a night game.  I'm  thinking this is Andy's game & will say in 4, though hoping for 3 which, of course, would be marvelous to save as much energy as possible.

I hope Andy can ignore Djoker's antics of possibly getting the crowd to start roaring for him. Will hope to hear "Andy's boys" cheering him on & that the angel from the other day will be there as well to cheer & enjoy.

Best of luck, Andy. Enjoy it all!    cmonandy

His biggest problem is that he's suffered in the rankings because he's not really played enough, but that's partly because he couldn't play when he was recovering from surgery, or because he was pacing himself because he was getting back up to full strength.

I don't know if Andy can take three sets off Novak tomorrow, but I do think he's on his way back to top form, and it will happen sooner or later.

That's exactly what I think too, except that I think it will be sooner, rather than later.
 cmon yeah.

With apologies to the eagle at wimbledon and having discussed this match with my senior dog, we  have a definite feeling in our fur that Andy will win ,after an almighty struggle, in 4 sets
