Stan won't trouble Murray, he lost only moments ago to Tommy Robredo after winning the first 6-1.

The question was; in the same half with nadal or not? That's the only thing that matters... It's the same half...so he can use thius tournament to find out were he stands in the clay  hierarchy...

Now I'm really confused - lost where?

Casablanca.

Great win for Robredo.

Wawrinka is still a huge banana skin for Murray.

I'm hoping for three things in this tournament
That Andy gets through the first round, then that he covers his points and gets to the quarters and finally that someone else beats Nadal

ah thanks tmh - it's easy to forget about these smaller tournaments.  But I agree you can't write Stan off especially on clay and he'll have had far more match practice on clay than Andy.

It could be Monfils rather than Stan that Andy plays in R2. If they both win their R1 matches (which look winnable - Stan faces Istomin while Gael faces a qualifier), then they'll face each other in R2. Their head-to-head is split evenly at the moment at 2-2, with Gael winning their only clay court match. Gael's been playing pretty well this year, though his ranking means that he keeps getting tough matches early on. He took a 6-2 set off Almagro this week in Houston (though lost the next two 6-0, 6-3).

Either could be a challenge for Andy, as both have beaten him before on clay. But both would be a good test for Andy's clay form early on in the season.

I'd much rather Andy plays Wawrinka than Monfils.
