Andy @ the Monte Carlo Masters

Andy will play qualifier Edouard Roger-Vasselin who has beaten Haase 6-3 6-2.

Has he every played him before?  I get rather anxious when he faces a qualifier who has played himself into the tournament and whose game he is less familiar with.

Had a feeling Haase would lose.  Whistle

Yes. In R2 of the 2012 AO, beating him 6-1 6-4 6-4 (remember all the awful Vasline comments? Rolling Eyes)

Was he a slippery customer?

Yes that was one of them. doh

And this was the heading of Nigel's match report - "Murray turns Roger-Vasselin to jelly"

Not sure Aileen, I hope that if he does he's one of the first on court as I'm in University in the afternoon.

I thought maybe as Djoko is playing Wednesday (if fit) then it might be tomorrow.  Suppose we'll just have to wait until the OOP is known or we get a tweet about it.

Difference being Murray has a winning H2H against Federer and Grass is also HIS best surface, whereas clay is by far the worst.

No-one's saying you can't be excited. Just personally I'm not remotely fussed at a meeting with Rafa on clay.

Anyway, Murray's got to get there first.

They both have to get there first. You can never make ANY assumptions in tennis.  (As Russia found out ) as to the result if they do play well you ever know. Lol

Djokovic's playing surprises me and there maybe an element of selfishness on his part. His doctors advised him to rest for up to 10 days., but he is playing MC. Is this because:-

1. He will lose some points, allowing Andy to creep closer to his no1.
2. Knowing that Ferrer had withdrawn and by playing, Andy would be placed in Nadal's half.
3. He may yet withdraw, but the draw has already been made.

Djokovic often resorts to unacceptable gamesmanship. Witness his MTO before Andy's servicing for USO title and other cases when he used MTO to upset his opponent's play.

Good points!! Will be interesting to see if he withdraws now the draw has been made!

I think he will.
