I wouldnt write off Andy's chances against Nadal should they meet. Nadal has a great record on clay....but Im looking forward to seeing where Andy's game is against Rafa on clay. Rafa hasnt played a much fitter, stronger and more confident Andy since his major success last year.

Im not thinking Andy will beat Rafa at the first clay court event...but come the RG Open ... he will have acclimated to the surface...and I feel he would then give Rafa some real problems. Who knows tho.....Andy might already be at an advanced stage already.... and if he is ..he can beat Nadal.

It's the best time to strike but Andy will have to get there first and stay healthy. Must save energy as much as possible. Would be great if he could wrap things up fairly easily today.

Wawrinka has just won against Montanes. Very quick match.

Andy looked good today judging by personal accounts and score. But Wawrinka is altogether a different opponent and looks to be in-form. Andy will have to be definitely on from the start. I think he’ll be. Very interesting match.

I'm wondering whether the pilates helped clear it up Aileen so that he didn't need an operation and/or that he was advised against an op in the end.  I would definitely recommend pilates for the lower back -it helps strengthen the muscles and also teaches you better posture.
The thing is though that we still don't know what the problem is, but given that Andy has said it's something that might always be with him, plus the fact that playing football and golf is a no-no, at least while his tennis career is still on the go, it would tend to fit the diagnosis a physio acquaintance suggested last year, i.e. that it most likely is a lumbar degenerative disc - something which sounds pretty alarming but which is actually very common in sports where constant rotating of the back is involved.  The good news is that it's easily managed and that surgery is usually only required in severe cases where mobility is regularly compromised.  Also any pain from the condition can, over a long period of time, and for complex medical reasons, decrease rather than get progressively worse.

Don't think this has been posted yet..

ANDY MURRAY WEDNESDAY PRESS CONFERENCE

http://www.monte-carlorolexmasters.com/News/Tennis/2013/Interview-Transcripts/Andy-Murray-Wednesday.aspx

He is asked quite a bit about new business arrangements - liked his response here:

Q. Now Ugo is working for Del Potro and you. Can there be any sort of problem, you think?
ANDY MURRAY: Give me an example of what a problem can be.

Q. I have no idea. I'm just asking you.
ANDY MURRAY: Well, I'm asking you, what problem could there be?

Also talks about the time violation situation - thinks umpires need to be watching receiver as well.

Totlly bizarre last question....

yes I'll now transfer my support to little grigor.
btw as I've said on another thread couldn't believe it when delpo called for trainer towards end of 3rd match tie break - you'd think it wouldn't be allowed. And then when he got fed up waiting for him he carried on anyway.
