I'm devastated.

There is more than one Tennis player you know... in fact within the ATP there's 2129 players.

I'm sure you'll still enjoy it.

If not give me your tickets.

Apparently this news wasn't supposed to be released by the press until midnight:

@NeilHarmanTimes We were under the impression there was a midnight embargo on this story Neil

Neil Harman‏@NeilHarmanTimes   @ts_sport So were we until the Thai Open announced it on their website.

Of course I want him to be ok but I can't help how down I feel either, I have paid out a small fortune on travel, digs and flights in the hope of seeing him Frown it was to be my first time as well.

So he announced his withdrawal way before the announcement was written, late ticket buyers now in the gutter.

I hope having this surgery will mean that Andy's not troubled by his back so much. It's been a problem ever since the end of the 2011 season, and seems to have got progressively worse since then. He won't have wanted a repeat of this year where such a large chunk of the clay season was a write-off for him. If the surgery can help, then it's definitely the right thing to do.

The timing makes sense, as it gives him plenty of time to be ready for the Aussie Open. I hope he can make the WTFs though, maybe he will be able to.
