Feeling sorry for Kim - suspect Andy won't make a great patient - more like impatient
So do I Westie, and I felt the same when he skipped RG, only this time he may not be able to do anything for a while.
If nothing else though it will be a good test of their relationship because there's a big difference between being able to have your own space on a regular basis and constantly tripping over each other's feet, and, let's face it, these two are apart quite a lot of the time.
Shocked, but relieved in a way. He has obviously been struggling with his back for a long time. I am sure folks remember the FO 2012. I think a break now will reap dividends for the rest of his career. He can get his back sorted, and also haves the mental rest he has so obviously needed for a while. It explains why he was so keen to play all the Davies Cup matches. He knew he didn't need to have anything in reserve. I can't imagine he has enjoyed playing recently, never knowing if his back was going to fail him. He can enjoy getting his OBE and possibly actually attend Sports Personality. Lets also think of how few points he will need to defend for much of next year.
I'd forgotten about his OBE. Oh well no excuses now for not going to the Palace to pick it up, assuming there's an investiture in the foreseeable future.
To be honest, I've not really enjoyed watching Andy's matches since he pulled out of RG because it was always on my mind that his back could go again at any time, especially when it was known he had a back specialist with his team, which in itself was an indication that something certainly wasn't right, so it must understandably have been preying on his mind as well, and I do remember his rather odd comment after one of his matches in Montreal that he was relieved to have got through it safely - a remark which I was sure at the time wasn't referring to his tennis.
