I think Andy made the right decision here. He needs to play tougher opponents now, and on faster courts than those in Valencia, in the run-up to the Paris Masters. It also suggests that his level of confidence is high, that he's feeling very fit, and that he wants to keep the momentum of that 15-match winning streak going. For me the photo in the Beeb article says it all, so - GO SOCK IT TO 'EM, ANDY, AND YOU CAN WIN THAT 4th STRAIGHT TITLE!

It proves that Andy does not shy away from the top players. He could quite justifiably have played Valencia where he would be seeded number 1, and picked up 455 points. Here he will be seeded number 2 and may have to take on both Federer and Djokovic to win.

Why are BBC referring to it as Basle when it's Basel?

I believe that's the English version of the name (similar to Koln/Cologne).

Roddick – Haas Giraldo – Stepanek Bellucci – Nieminen Federer – Starace Tipsarevic – F. Mayer Llodra – Ljubicic Dodig – Wawrinka Murray – Haase
Two of the toughest 500 draws he's ever had either side of a joke MS draw.

I have just checked my TV guide and the Sky Sports Tennis coverage which starts on Thursday, they have now changed from Valencia to Basel. 1pm until 9pm on SS2. Same time and channel on Friday. 2 until 5:30 on Saturday SS3.

Andy's title to win - no matter who his opponents are en route. Go for it, our man in Basel!
I thought that he would have chosen Valencia, but his decision is correct and shows the strength of his confidence.

It's 2013!

That's a solid draw. All capable of beating Andy if they're on their games and Andy plays poorly.
