No! Then I'd lose all hope of ever nabbing Andy for myself.

I don't actually think marriage is the only way you can commit to someone you love. The fact they're obviously happy and in love is enough for them to be together. If they want to get married, then it's their business and we'll just have to wait after to see the pictures (if there's any) and if they don't, then that's cool as well.

^^ I totally agree with you there, Earmuffs. I guess it all depends on the person as well. Some feel more secure and complete if they are married; while others probably feel more comfortable not being all tied down. Love is the essential factor in any relationship in the end. If it's not there, then it's not going to work no matter what. And you will find yourself in a relationship that's dead for a while simply because you are still married and the stress is even bigger when you are about to go through a divorce.  Living together, on the other hand, is a bit more open and allows you to part away if it doesn't work out.

I have a question though - how would you all feel if this relationship doesn't work out in the end - let's say, Andy decided to call it quits for whatever reason. Would you change your opinion about Andy or would you leave things alone thinking it's their personal matter? Would you keep your faith in Andy regardless and trust his judgement or would you feel he was simply wrong to let Kim go?

Well, EJ you being a Pete fan, you probably remember when he was going with Kim Williams, we all loved her, but it ended and many of us were gutted, wondering how he could break it off with her, but then along came Bridgette Wilson, who is friendly and pretty and loves Pete so much, and we all took on to her too.  So if things do not work with Andy and Kim, someone else will come along.  It's his life to do with what he wishes.

If Andy called it quits and broke with Kim I would stop supporting Andy as I think many would. We'd probably all start supporting Berdych. Or Ferrer. Maybe even Jan Hajek.

I can't believe you're being serious.  What on earth has Andy's personal life got to do with his abilities as a tennis player - apart, that is, from the fact that he clearly gets a lot of support from her.  Anyway as Jessica says they've been through a lot of tough times together yet their relationship has survived.   In case you've forgotten, they did split 3 years ago but got back together again fairly quickly.  As I understand it it was Andy who wanted the break because he wanted time on his own, but it didn't take him too long to realise how much he missed her.  I bet that during the reunion process a lot of very searching questions were asked, both of each other and of themselves.  In effect that brief separation may have been the best thing that could have happened since it gave them a chance to explore their own feelings and clear the air over their differences.

Courage doesn't always roar - but wins Wimbledon

Hi All,

I think Andy and Kim's relationship is their business and no one else's. I do think the media wants its happily ever after thing. Maybe they expect Andy to win Wimbledon next year and then go down on one knee on Centre Court and do the whole proposal thing, before running up to the box and presenting Kim with a dozen red roses that have been hiding away in his bag for the duration of the final. Naturally, they would expect Kim to either throw herself at Andy's feet, or in to his arms, whichever takes her fancy, in a river of tears, before they both do an emotional interview with Sue Barker.

And now for the real world.............

I just don't see an issue. It strikes me that Andy and Kim seem very happy together. They might not be the most publicly demonstrative couple around, but when I see them together I always think they look as if they are very happy and very much in love. Maybe that is enough for now.

Don't get me wrong, I don't quite hold to the idea that marriage is just a piece of paper. I think it's more than that, a great deal more. The question, it seems to me, is if marriage, at least for now, would be the right thing to do, and whether it would make the couple any happier. Maybe, just maybe, both Kim and Andy don't think marriage would be right for them at the moment. Maybe they don't think it would make them happier. Maybe, given that they have been together for a long time, they actually feel married, and a ceremony will follow when the time is right for them.

The thing I am glad about is that Andy and Kim seem very down to earth. The last thing they would need is for the media et al to pressurise them in to something they aren't ready for. That would be a disaster personally, and wouldn't do Andy's tennis any good at all.

At the end of the day they are both young and Andy has a career that demands a lot from him. Their private lives are no one else's business, and that is how it should be.

Had a good laugh at that TJ.  Andy does not strike me as being the most romantic of men, but then romance alone doesn't necessarily make for a strong relationship, although it must be very nice.  I wouldn't know though because all the men I've known in my life haven't been the romantic type either.  But then, Scotsmen have a reputation for being somewhat lacking in the romance department!

I agree with all of that TJ, especially the last  bit - and I'm ashamed to say that the breakup of their relationship was well and truly dissected on MW.

Also I have great admiration for both of them for managing to keep their private life out of the public arena as far as possible.  Kim has kept in the background and it's just unfortunate that Andy, and Kim to some extent, has been dragged into the limelight now more than ever before - but that's the downside of success.

First of all, totally agree with your post TJ,and thanks so much-the image of Andy trailing squished roses as he climbed up to the box made me roar with laughter!

They might not be all over each other in public, but in those moments that pictures and video do capture-such as when he held her tight for a few seconds after the Olympics,or the hug on Arthur Ashe court,or that time they were at that shooting of Mock the Week, and they sat with their heads leaning in towards each other the whole time, they seem-at least to me-to be very much in love, and very happy together.I think they've done a marvelous job of keeping much of their relationship private, which can't be easy when you think of how much scrutiny Andy undergoes in the UK.So,I hope for their sakes, that they continue to be happy with each other.

But I really think the press need to lay off them, and the "when's the wedding??" speculation in every second article-and press conference-needs to end.I know they've been together for a long time, but they're still only 24 and 25 years old!(I'm 20,and I can safely say that I'm NOwhere near ready to marry anyone!)While plenty of people do get married before their age, many more would think that's quite young to get married. They already live together and share their lives as they would if married.When/if they do marry,it'll be because they've decided it's what they want.

And I have to say EJ, I really don't understand why anyone would stop supporting Andy if he and Kim broke up,or why their opinion of Andy would change. It's their lives, their relationship! And we don't even know them.Sure,we all want them to live happily ever after, but if it got to the stage where they broke up,well, then clearly things between them would no longer be happy or good, and when that happens, then you're better off breaking up.

I repeat,I'm a big Andy & Kim fan.I hope that they do continue to be happy and in love together. But,while Kim's support is no doubt invaluable to Andy in his life,as well as at his matches, that's as far as her involvement in his tennis career goes,so I really can't see how their relationship should affect anyone's opinion of Andy as a tennis player. And I really think they should be allowed to have the privacy that they've worked so hard for.

It is no wonder that celeb marriages break up. They are under constant pressure and the press constantly harass them. Weather sports stars or even royalty you just have to look at William and Kate. If Andy wants to keep his private life private that will be difficult. Those celebs are always under some kind of observation it must be very difficult for them to have any kind of privacy. If they do marry it will be because they both love each other.
