It would be interesting to hear your stories if anyone has met Andy.
I was lucky enough to do so last year.  I live in Toronto, where the Rogers Cup is played, so I've been lucky enough to watch Andy play, also Nole, Nadal and Fed, amongst others.  Last year I watched Andy practise with Dani a couple of hours before his match against Monfils.  In fact, he almost hit me with his serve! (Believe me... he has one powerful serve!) Kim and Judy were also present.  When he had finished, he came over to sign my Scottish flag and I had a short conversation with him.  It was a brutally hot sunny day, and he was just slathered in sunscreen all over his nose. He really is just an ordinary lad, very unassuming and friendly, and very funny!  I completely get his droll sense of humour, probably because I am also Scottish.. and married to a Scottish lad too!  He is very typical.
I didn't get to see him this year because the men played in Montreal  (just as well, I would have been heartbroken to have been present at the Anderson match).
Looking forward to next year Smile

How lovely to read your story.  What a truly memorable experience.  I wish I had a tale to tell but unfortunately I've only met Andy in my dreams (three times to date).  Ah well, better that than nothing I suppose!

I don't know if many members of MW have actually met Andy, but there are a few who've been lucky enough to watch him play, so hopefully you might get some stories.

I briefly met Andy in Hamburg 2007 at the Hamburg Masters whilst I was over ther working for Airbus.  At that point he was quite a quiet lad, but he did thank the group of Scots who had come from Airbus to support him.  Incidentally it was his 19th birthday that day and it was also the day that he got that bad wrist injury that kept him out of Wimbledon.  An odd day, not any more odd than the German schoolkids that sang happy birthday to him before the start of the match, he looked utterly bemused with the whole event!

A friend of mine hasn't exactly met him, but he did beat him in a tennis tournament once. If that sounds unlikely, it's because he didn't actually play him - he was drawn against him in the tournament, but Murray was late turning up so he got a walkover to the next round. This was when he was about 8 or 9 and, as far as I'm aware, my friend hasn't picked up a racquet since.

Still it's a nice story and he's one of the few out there with a 100% head to head record against him!

Although I hav'nt met him I have seen him play at Braehead in September and I had the privilidge of wathcing how he behaves around his fans and it is absolutely magnificint.  He takes time to speak to the kids and he makes sure he signs everybody's authographs.  He smiled, waved, joined in with the general banter and comes across as a totally down to earth normal young man.  He smiles constantly (when not on the tennis court) he laughed his way through the other fames he was watching - cheered on the doubles team and James Ward.  Just a thouroughly grounded nice young man and a credit to his family and to the sport that he so obviosly loves.

Lucky you! I'm green with envy :-)   He comes across as being a very down to earth lad and so does Jamie and Judy.
They are all successful people but have worked hard for what they've got! the salt of the earth

I've seen Andy play 3 times in Oz and watched him on the practise courts once.  Just missed out catching Andy's wristband on the 3rd occasion Crying or Very sad as I was trying to take a picture with my phone!  It bounced off the tip of my finger and landed in someone's hand on the row below me.  I consoled myself with Andy's autograph when I watched him on the practise courts.  He gave away all the tennis balls he was practising with and signed each and everyone's piece of memorabilia that was there and posed for photos with fans.  Alas I was by myself at the time and my phone camera isn't very good so didn't take the opportunity.  I remember a young girl asking Andy if he would sign her arm but he explained, very nicely, that they weren't allowed to.  I think he was practising with George Morgan that day.  I've also managed to watch Jamie play doubles once, again in Oz, with Xavier Mallise - unfortunately they lost.

I have also seen Nadal, Fedex, Nole, Tsonga, Soderling, and Roddick amongst others.  I've also managed to see Tommy Haas - that was a great match.  I think he was playing Tipsarevic and he won in 5 sets.

I should have added that Alex met Andy in 2006 when he played in Auckland.  That was the only time Andy's played here I think and the year I moved out to NZ, albeit 3 months too late doh

I think Alex has also seen him in Oz - they may be something in the photo's section about that search

The closest I've gotten is watching him practise at the O2.

Oooh wow Bev!  You've done pretty well seeing all those top players.  Still, I console myself with the memory of watching Rod Laver playing at Wimbledon two years running - and that was before the Open Era ... old Very Happy   I'd love to have gone to Braehead this year but circumstances prevented it. Very Sad

... And to Great Britain.  Just unfortunate that so many people dislike him because of how he can sometimes appear on court, which really is a great shame. Frown
