I hope he can get enough competitive match practice in the Hopman Cup before hand against Andrey Golubev (4th of January), Philipp Kohlschreiber (6th) and Igor Andreev (8th).

This year he played Roddick, Nadal and Federer and looked primed to win the AO after those performances and wins.

I think I will wait until a week before the tournament begins before making a prediction.

I notice that your location is near Falkirk. highfive

During the coming week we will find out if Andy entered the tournament in Sydney or not as the entry deadline is on Monday or Tuesday. Smile

I've voted for the quarters and I think I'll stick with that and hope he does better. As James says, he has had a bit of bad luck in some of these bigger tourneys, how he'll do next year heavens only knows I just wish him the best and hope he sorts things out so that he plays more consistently to his top form.

Amen to all of that Jan.  Just wish he'd sort his serve out.  Seems to be the main inconsistency right now, and I honestly think if that's not working it affects his whole game.  Frown

Do you think that would be a good idea?  None of the top players usually play the week before a Slam.  The Final would be on the Saturday I think and he could be in the half of the draw that plays on  Monday the 18th.  However he would be match sharp with the 5 matches that he could end up playing.

He could get a late wild card closer to the Sydney event starting if he is short of match practice.

Lets hope there will be more highs including an Australian Open trophy.  I meant to put agony and ecstacy instead of dispair.   As there has been a lot of great moments following AM for the last 4 and a half years since Wimbledon 2005.

Gawd.  So know where you are coming from.  Not sure about where he'll be next year, tbh.   But it's been a pleasure being a fan.

Hi Elly.  With the way this Semi-final has just taken a turn with Del potro levelling things up Murray could start next season outside the top 4 since August 2008.
